Wonder Girls member accused of fraud

The Asian entertainment industry was shocked by the news that singer Sunmi, a former member of the famous Wonder Girls group, was involved in fraud allegations related to a multi-million dollar NFT (Non-Fungible Token) project.

Sports Kyunghyang newspaper exposed the incident on February 22, causing a wave of anger from the public and investors.

According to the investigation, Sunmi, her management company, and Hands Studio collaborated to launch an NFT project called Sunmiya Club in February 2022. Taking advantage of the "Kpop queen's" reputation, the project quickly attracted attention thanks to unique digital images modeled after Sunmi.

With the "winged" promise of exclusive fan meetings, luxurious parties and attractive profit sharing opportunities, Sunmi and the publisher attracted many investors to "pour capital".

However, the "dream of getting rich" quickly shattered when the cryptocurrency market fluctuated. The collapse of Luna - Terra and the bankruptcy of the FTX exchange (USA) led to a sharp decline in the value of NFTs belonging to the Sunmiya Club project. From a "sky-high" price of millions of won for each NFT, the value dropped to a bottom of only a few tens of thousands of won.

Singer Sunmi accused of fraud.

In the context of investors "standing still" due to losses, the project creators were accused of "running away". Notably, Sunmi, the representative face of the project. She also kept a mysterious silence, without any moves to reassure or explain.

Sunmi’s silence sparked outrage. Many investors spoke out to accuse the singer of fraud and irresponsibility, exploiting her fame for personal gain.
