The two leaders attended a small meeting. Malaysia is currently Vietnam's second largest trading partner in ASEAN and 11th in the world. Malaysia is also the second largest ASEAN investor in Vietnam and ranks 11th out of 143 countries and territories investing in Vietnam with a total registered capital of over 13 billion USD. Looking back over the past 10 years, the two countries' trade turnover increased from over 8 billion USD (in 2014) to over 14 billion USD in 2022, nearly doubling after upgrading the relationship to a strategic partnership.
