Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh suggested that Vietnam and Thailand effectively deploy connectivity between supply chains, economic sectors and green growth strategies.
Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh received Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister of Thailand Parnpree Bahiddha-Nukara at the government headquarters on the afternoon of October 25, according to a statement from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Mr. Parnpree paid an official visit to Vietnam on October 25-26, marking his first foreign visit after being appointed Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister of Thailand in early September. Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh assessed that this visit contributed to deepening the Vietnam-Thailand strategic partnership.
The Prime Minister suggested that Vietnam and Thailand effectively implement the "Three Connections" initiative, including connecting supply chains; connecting economic sectors, localities and enterprises; and connecting green and sustainable growth strategies of the two countries.
Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh suggested that the two countries take their strategic partnership to a new level and increase high-level delegation exchanges. He reiterated his invitation to the Thai Prime Minister to pay an official visit to Vietnam and co-chair the 4th Vietnam-Thailand Joint Cabinet Meeting in 2024.

The Prime Minister appreciated Thailand’s continued status as Vietnam’s largest trade partner in ASEAN and the ninth largest foreign investor in Vietnam. He suggested that both sides work together to soon achieve the target of US$25 billion in bilateral trade, in a more balanced manner, to reduce trade barriers and further facilitate the import and export of goods between the two countries.
Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh also asked Thailand to continue creating favorable conditions for the Vietnamese community to do business, live and study in Thailand; and welcomed the increase in the number of direct flights between the two countries.
The Thai Deputy Prime Minister affirmed his desire to effectively implement the "Three Connectivity" strategy. Mr. Parnpree said that Thai businesses believe in the potential and investment environment and wish to expand investment in Vietnam; he asked Vietnam to continue supporting Thai investors in implementing projects in a number of localities, including energy projects.
He also affirmed that Thailand will facilitate foreign enterprises, including Vietnamese enterprises, to expand investment in Thailand.
Vietnam and Thailand established diplomatic relations in 1976. This year, the two countries celebrate the 10th anniversary of the establishment of the Strategic Partnership. Import-export turnover between the two countries is expected to reach 21.6 billion USD in 2022. Vietnam is Thailand's second largest trading partner in ASEAN and fifth in the world.
