Eating order can help control diabetes

Báo Thanh niênBáo Thanh niên01/09/2024

Diabetes is caused by the pancreas not producing enough insulin or the body not using insulin normally.

Symptoms of diabetes often include increased thirst, frequent urination, fatigue, unexplained weight loss, and blurred vision.

However, with a healthy diet and lifestyle, people with diabetes can control the disease well and prevent complications.

Research shows that the order of foods in a meal can affect how the body processes sugar, according to the Hindustan Times .

Dr Pramod Tripathi, a diabetologist in India, explains how foods can reduce the symptoms of diabetes.

Eating vegetables and fruits helps you feel full longer, reducing cravings and the risk of overeating.

Eat protein and vegetables before eating starch

The order in which you eat your meals can have a big impact on your health. Many studies have shown that eating protein and vegetables before carbohydrates is an effective way to control blood sugar levels.

Dr. Tripathi explains that because proteins and vegetables take longer to digest than starches, they delay the release of sugar into the bloodstream. This results in a slower and more steady rise in blood sugar, reducing the risk of blood sugar-related diseases.

How food controls blood sugar

Slower digestion: When you eat protein and fiber first, digestion slows down. This helps your blood sugar rise more gradually, rather than suddenly after eating.

Feel fuller longer: Protein and fiber help you feel full longer, reducing cravings and the risk of overeating.

Balanced nutrition: By prioritizing protein and vegetables, you will provide your body with all the nutrients it needs to stay healthy.

Dr. Tripathi says changing the order in which you eat is a simple but effective way to manage diabetes. Not only what you eat, but the order in which you eat it is also important.
