(MPI) - On February 7, 2025, Deputy Minister of Planning and Investment Nguyen Duc Tam had a courtesy meeting with Director General of the Agency for Science, Technology and Research (A*STAR) Beh Kian Teik and Singaporean Ambassador to Vietnam Jaya Ratnam.

Welcoming the delegation of the Singapore Embassy and the Agency for Science, Technology and Research (A*STAR) to work at the Ministry of Planning and Investment, Deputy Minister Nguyen Duc Tam emphasized that the Vietnam - Singapore relationship has continuously developed and achieved many important milestones, which are concretized by many cooperative activities between the National Innovation Center (NIC) and A*STAR, as well as potentials and opportunities for cooperation in the field of innovation in the coming time.
The Deputy Minister thanked Singapore for supporting Vietnam in developing industrial parks and export processing zones and helping logistics enterprises integrate more deeply into the international community; hoping that in the future, there will be more opportunities for cooperation between NIC and A*STAR, such as strengthening connections, sharing and exchanging experiences in developing startups, suitable development models and researching the model of a smart manufacturing center at NIC Hoa Lac.
The Deputy Minister also suggested that A*STAR step up support for Vietnamese enterprises in science and technology development, innovation, digital transformation, smart manufacturing and priority technology fields such as artificial intelligence, automation and advanced manufacturing technology.
Deputy Minister Nguyen Duc Tam said that the development of science, technology, innovation and digital transformation is a decisive factor in the development of countries; it is a prerequisite and the best opportunity for Vietnam to develop richly and powerfully in the new era - the era of national development as stated in Resolution No. 57-NQ/TW dated December 22, 2024 of the Politburo on breakthroughs in the development of science, technology, innovation and national digital transformation.
Deputy Minister Nguyen Duc Tam hopes that A*STAR will continue to support Vietnam in carrying out key tasks in the coming time such as: continuing to exchange startups, promoting innovation activities, implementing startup programs with NIC...
In a sincere and open atmosphere, the two sides exchanged and discussed extensively major orientations and measures to strengthen cooperation between the two sides as well as elevate the Vietnam - Singapore relationship in the coming time.
A*STAR General Director Beh Kian Teik expressed his delight and affirmed his readiness to cooperate more deeply and comprehensively with NIC to find areas of cooperation that are suitable to the orientation and needs of both sides. A*STAR also hopes that in 2025, A*STAR/ARTC and NIC will have specific programs and products to realize the commitments made./.
