Attending the series of events were Leaders and representatives of Leaders: Southern Standing Agency - Central Propaganda Department; Southern Affairs Department - Ministry of Information and Communications; Press Department - Ministry of Information and Communications; representatives of some Central and local Departments, Ministries and Branches; Leaders, representatives of leaders and reporters of Central and Ho Chi Minh City press agencies. Attending the event were members of the Club's Advisory Board and leaders and representatives of leaders of businesses accompanying the Club and the event.
Attending the event on the side of the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment were leaders of the following units: Department of Climate Change, Department of International Cooperation, Ministry Office, Institute of Strategy and Policy on Natural Resources and Environment.
Speaking at the event, on behalf of the leaders of the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment, Deputy Minister Le Cong Thanh thanked the leaders of the Vietnam Journalists Association for their attention, direction, and effective coordination of many propaganda, communication, and press activities on the topic of natural resources and environment in recent times.
Deputy Minister Le Cong Thanh also highly appreciated the initiative of the Natural Resources and Environment Newspaper in coordination with agencies under the Vietnam Journalists Association and relevant agencies to organize the Seminar: "Press and media accompany businesses in green development"; and congratulated the establishment of the Green Development Journalism Club towards Net Zero; launched the Executive Board, Advisory Board and for the first time launched the Green Development Journalism Award.
The Deputy Minister said: The topics of climate change adaptation, green development, and sustainable development have always been of interest to the Party and State, the domestic and international community. As you know, at the 26th Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP26) held in November 2021, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and leaders of 150 countries around the world made a strong commitment to bring net emissions to "0" by 2050. Vietnam is making efforts to implement mechanisms, legal policies, projects, and programs on green development and sustainable development.
The theme of the seminar "Press and media accompany businesses in green development" and the launch of the First Green Development Press Award (2023 - 2025) are typical and practical activities, contributing significantly to the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment, ministries, branches, localities and the international community in propaganda, communication; policy consultation and criticism; implementation and promotion of timely implementation of Vietnam's commitments on climate change response; strengthening the implementation of policies and laws on management and rational use of natural resources, environmental protection, climate change response, promotion of circular economy, green economy, green finance, carbon market.
In addition, this is also an activity to raise awareness among people and the business community about the necessity and responsibility of pioneering in the transition to a circular economy, developing a green economy, adapting to domestic climate change towards Net Zero Carbon; honoring technological solutions, initiatives, suggestions, and new examples in building a society associated with environmental friendliness, protecting natural resources, building and operating a carbon market and international community responsibility.
“For the discussion to be highly effective, I hope that delegates representing agencies will introduce and share contents and messages; suggest policies to create social consensus and social resources to effectively implement tasks for climate change adaptation, green and sustainable development...” – Deputy Minister Le Cong Thanh emphasized.
Along with the discussion and the launching ceremony of the Executive Board, Advisory Board, and launching of the Green Development Journalism Award, the Deputy Minister assessed that this was a meaningful activity; creating a forum and professional playground for members of the Green Development Journalism Club and press agencies; recognizing, encouraging, and rewarding journalists, reporters, editors, and collaborators of press agencies with high-quality press works on the Green Development theme; being an extension and spreading information on green development and sustainable development.
“For the Award to be successful, the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment hopes that press agencies nationwide will continue to accompany more strongly, creatively and enthusiastically in the work of propagating and communicating the theme of Green Development; actively respond to participate in the Press Award to have many outstanding, high-quality press works on this theme” - Deputy Minister Le Cong Thanh said.
Along with many other activities, the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment wishes to continue to grasp and evaluate in order to build and perfect policies, and effectively convey and implement policies.

Speaking about the Club's operational orientation, Journalist Tran Trong Dung, Vice President of the Vietnam Journalists Association, acknowledged and highly appreciated the initiative and efforts of the Natural Resources and Environment Newspaper and the Green Development Club to organize a series of meaningful and practical activities with the participation of three parties: state management agencies, press and media, and businesses.
According to Mr. Tran Trong Dung, natural resources and environment is a field that requires reporters and journalists with specialized professional knowledge, in-depth understanding of specific fields, especially communication about the Government's strategies and programs on climate change, green development, circular economy, contributing to changing and raising awareness of people and organizations, businesses to complete the Zero Carbon goal by 2050 that the Vietnamese government committed to at COP 26.
The Green Development Journalism Club was established with the following principles and purposes: Gathering journalists, managers, experts and people interested in natural development, ensuring harmony between economic growth and environmental protection to contribute to building a green Vietnam (Net Zero Carbon).
“The Vietnam Journalists Association hopes that the Club will regularly organize conferences, seminars, forums, talks, field trips, professional skills training, knowledge provision, competitions, etc. for members and those interested in the natural resources and environment sector,” emphasized journalist Tran Trong Dung.
Regarding the activities of the Club, Journalist Tran Trong Dung hopes that this will be an address, a space for members and journalists across the country to exchange and share knowledge to improve professional qualifications, and be provided with objective and honest information when writing about the natural resources and environment sector, about green economy, green development, circular economy, etc.
“I hope that the Club's Executive Board will promote the role of each individual so that the Green Development Journalism Club can properly implement its principles and goals; regularly and actively maintain the Club's activities to support members and those interested in the field of natural resources and environment, contributing to building a green Vietnam, ensuring harmony between economic growth and environmental protection" - Vice President of the Vietnam Journalists Association Tran Trong Dung emphasized.
At the program, representatives of leaders of some units under the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment, along with experts and business representatives, will present papers related to mechanisms, policies and propose solutions for green development of enterprises; experiences, initiatives, production and business models towards green transformation, circular economy, low-carbon economy, for sustainable development.
Within the framework of the program, there will also be a Seminar on Press and Media Accompanying Green Development Enterprises with the theme "Actions towards Net Zero" with the participation of representatives of leaders of a number of press agencies and enterprises. At the Seminar, enterprises shared about their activities towards sustainable development, green production - environmentally friendly, and discussed the role of press and media in the development of enterprises in bringing products and services of enterprises closer to consumers, orienting - supporting enterprises in the face of information incidents or criticizing mechanisms and policies related to enterprises... Many opinions affirmed that the press and media will always be a reliable companion, side by side with enterprises on the path of green development and together act towards Net Zero by 2050 according to Vietnam's commitment at COP26.
At the program, the Board of Directors of the Green Development Journalism Club also officially launched the first "Green Development Journalism" Award (2023 - 2025). The Organizing Committee of the Award hopes that this will be a professional playground for Club members; recognizing, encouraging, and rewarding journalists, reporters, editors, collaborators, and informants of press agencies with good quality press works written about Green Development.
