Especially for Vietnamese people living abroad, this is a place for them to indulge their passion for singing, show their talents and honor, preserve and conserve values imbued with Vietnamese cultural identity, connecting love and looking back to their roots.
Singer Ho Quang 8 and Trang Nhung take on the role of judges for the contest.
The contest selects contestants from 16 years old and above, and is not limited to professionals or amateurs. It is divided into 3 categories: light music, folk music, and lyrical music - bolero. The organizers said they especially encourage contestants to sing folk music in the genres of tuong, cheo, cai luong, quan ho, etc.
The champion of each group will receive a prize worth 300 million VND (including cash and gifts).
In addition, the 3 champions of the 3 groups along with the contestants who won the secondary prizes in the final night will be able to perform in all domestic and foreign shows organized by the host unit.
At a press conference recently held in Hanoi, the contest's organizers said that in the first season, due to limited conditions, the competition could only be held in Europe, an area with a large Vietnamese population and a strong and vibrant singing movement. Currently, the first contestants from countries such as France, Germany, Czech Republic, and Bulgaria have registered to participate.
Taking on the role of judges for the contest are singers Thu Minh, Quang Le, Bang Kieu, Ho Quang 8, Duong Trieu Vu, Trang Nhung, To My, Khanh Du and journalist Ngo Ba Luc.
The 2023 "Global Vietnamese Singing Contest" will officially accept applications from October 2023. The European Semi-finals are expected to be held in mid-November 2023. The domestic preliminary and semi-finals will be held at the end of November 2023. The final ranking night will take place at the Ho Chi Minh City Opera House at the end of December 2023.
