Tuy An tunnel, over 1,000m long, part of package XL01 of the Chi Thanh - Van Phong expressway project, has officially opened both tunnel tubes.
According to information from Deo Ca Group (construction contractor), today (January 17), the right branch of Tuy An tunnel on the North-South expressway, Chi Thanh - Van Phong section, has been dug. Thus, up to now, the digging of both tunnels has been completed.

Mr. Truong Cong Dat, Director of the XL01 Package Management Board, said that the construction process of Tuy An tunnel faced many major challenges due to complex geological conditions.
According to the original design, the tunnel was expected to penetrate through hard rock. In fact, during construction, the geology in the area was mainly clay, weathered rock, sand and groundwater. This difference not only increased the difficulty of construction but also reduced the tunnel excavation speed from an average of 6-8m per day to only 0.5-1m per day.
"Faced with the above difficulties, the Executive Board and related units quickly adjusted the construction plan, handled arising issues and completed the approval documents.
The close coordination between the contractor, the supervision consultant and the Project Management Board has ensured funding and implementation progress. Thanks to the continuous efforts of the team of engineers and workers, the construction progress of the entire project is currently 8% ahead of schedule," said Mr. Dat, adding that the completion of the Tuy An tunnel is an important step forward, contributing to speeding up the progress of the entire Chi Thanh - Van Phong expressway.
It is known that immediately after the two tunnel branches are cleared, the team of engineers and workers will carry out the next steps such as digging the foundation, reinforcing, installing formwork to pour concrete for the tunnel lining, and installing the ITS equipment system.
Tuy An Tunnel will also be used as a service road, shortening transportation time and coordinating materials along the entire route.
Package XL01 of the Chi Thanh - Van Phong expressway project has a length of 24km. The total value of the package is 4,300 billion VND.
Along the route, in addition to the Tuy An road and tunnel, there are 16 bridges. The contract is carried out by a consortium led by Deo Ca Group. The value of the work carried out by Deo Ca is 1,650 billion VND, accounting for 38% of the contract value.
According to the report of the XL01 Package Management Board, at the construction site, the contractor consortium is mobilizing 806 personnel, 505 machines and equipment and deploying 40 construction teams along the entire route.
The total output of the entire package reached 72%. Particularly for the scope of work undertaken by Deo Ca Group, the completed output to date reached 68%, exceeding the plan by 8%.
