According to many drivers, on February 6, at least 4 cars had their tires blown out on Highway 45-Nghi Son, through Trung Chinh Commune, Nong Cong District, Thanh Hoa. The cause was that the tires hit an expansion bar that came loose and bounced onto the road surface. Immediately after that, Road Management Area 2 directed temporary patching with crushed stone mixed with cement.

In the recently issued dispatch, the Minister of Transport requested the Vietnam Road Administration and the Vietnam Expressway Administration to strengthen inspection and supervision of entities performing maintenance management of the expressway system; promptly direct relevant units to organize repairs and remedy damaged works to ensure normal operation conditions of the expressway system, in compliance with regulations.
For expressways under warranty, the Vietnam Road Administration and the Expressway Administration must promptly request project investors to organize repairs and remedy damage to the works (if any) under the contractor's warranty responsibility to ensure compliance with the project's technical standards.
Investors of expressway projects invested with State budget capital, during the construction warranty period, must further strengthen periodic and surprise inspections, promptly detect shortcomings and defects in construction quality to request contractors to repair and overcome them in accordance with the provisions of the contract.

Before repairing or remedying, investors must approve the repair or remedy solution to ensure compliance with the project's technical standards; plans to ensure traffic safety and labor safety at the construction site. At the same time, during the repair or remedy process, investors must organize construction quality supervision, supervise traffic safety and labor safety at the construction site, and closely coordinate with the management and operation unit throughout the construction warranty period.
The Commander of the Transport Industry shall assign the Department of Construction Investment Management, according to its assigned functions and tasks, to proactively coordinate with the Vietnam Road Administration and the Vietnam Expressway Administration to inspect and urge investors to organize repairs and remedy damage to works (if any) under the contractor's warranty responsibility.
Regarding some sections of the North-South Expressway project in the East, the Vietnam Road Administration stated that some sections of the expressway project have been completed and put into operation since June 2024. However, during the operation period of the warranty period (24 months from the date of handover), some damage has occurred, posing potential traffic safety risks.
It is known that expansion joints are an indispensable component in the construction of bridges and roads, designed as narrow gaps to divide the construction into separate blocks. Expansion joints minimize cracking or destruction of the structure due to the impact of harsh weather or external pressure.
