Strengthening solidarity with ethnic minority communities

Through many specific activities and programs, the twinning work between the Provincial Women's Union and the Party Committee of Dong Tien Commune, Ham Thuan Bac District has brought about stable development in ethnic minority areas.

Implementing the policy of the Provincial Party Standing Committee on strengthening the innovation of twinning work, helping communes in ethnic minority and mountainous areas to improve their material and spiritual life, build new rural areas, civilized lifestyle, prevent and push back backward customs; ensure security and national defense; strengthen national solidarity, create people's trust in Party committees and authorities; contribute to rapid and sustainable poverty reduction, since 2015, the Provincial Women's Union has developed a plan and gradually implemented activities to help the Dong Tien Commune Party Committee. Including the contents of coordinating propaganda and education to improve political ideology and legal knowledge for members and women on the occasion of March 8 and October 20; learning about the contests of resolutions of women's congresses at all levels; the content of Party resolutions, policies and laws of the State; history of traditional days of the country, of the association associated with Directive No. 05-CT/TW on "Promoting studying and following Ho Chi Minh's ideology, morality and style"... Thereby attracting many members, women and people in ethnic minority areas to participate.

In particular, from 2020 to present, the Provincial Women's Union has innovated forms of propaganda, effectively exploiting social networks such as Zalo, Facebook, and small groups to share and mobilize members and women to properly implement the provisions of the Law on Marriage and Family, prevent child marriage, eliminate backward customs and superstitions, and raise vigilance against forces that take advantage of the policies of the national state to incite and cause trouble against the Party and the State, causing social disorder in the locality. In addition, it has coordinated to organize scientific and technical training, support loans, and award scholarships and gifts to poor students. Through competitions and seminars, women are encouraged to speak up and exchange information to grasp the situation, aspirations, and difficulties in order to provide timely support and assistance.

Ms. K'Thi Hom - President of the Women's Union of Dong Tien commune said: The awareness level of members and women in the commune has now improved a lot. Women not only work hard to take care of their happy families but also actively participate in cultural, artistic and sports movements to enrich their lives. Those healthy playgrounds add new vitality to the movement "All people unite to build a cultural life" at the grassroots level.

According to the assessment of the Dong Tien Commune Party Committee: Through twinning, a close and intimate relationship has been created between provincial agencies and units with local Party committees and authorities. Twinning is also an opportunity for the commune to develop, contributing to changing the awareness of ethnic minorities in implementing the policy of sustainable poverty reduction; arousing the will to be proactive, self-reliant, not waiting or relying on the support of the State and society; improving spiritual life.

Up to now, Dong Tien commune has achieved 16/19 new rural criteria. The number of poor households is only 29 and 83 near-poor households. The school facilities are invested in spacious and clean, contributing to improving the quality of education in the highlands. Regarding the environment, people collect and dispose of garbage according to regulations; the rate of households using clean water is 317/320 households, accounting for 99.06%; the rate of households with toilets, bathrooms, and hygienic water storage facilities and ensuring 3 cleans accounts for 85.63%... Strive to complete the remaining 3 criteria to reach the new rural destination in 2023.
