At the ceremony, authorized by the Prime Minister, Minister of Construction Nguyen Thanh Nghi presented the decision to recognize Dong Ha City as a type II urban area, directly under Quang Tri province.

Minister Nguyen Thanh Nghi affirmed that Dong Ha City being recognized as meeting the standards of a type II urban area will bring opportunities, attract investment interest, and create conditions to continue promoting its role, position, and strengths as the economic center of Quang Tri province.

Besides, there will also be many difficulties and challenges in the development process, towards a sustainable, unique, dynamic and highly competitive Dong Ha urban area.

Minister of Construction Nguyen Thanh Nghi emphasized that Dong Ha City achieving the status of a class II urban area is an event marking a new milestone in the process of construction and development.

Minister Nguyen Thanh Nghi suggested that Dong Ha City should focus on mobilizing social resources to invest in upgrading and building social infrastructure and urban technical infrastructure, and promptly overcome weak criteria compared to the standards of a type II urban area, especially criteria on social infrastructure.

Concentrate resources, effectively implement the approved Dong Ha City Urban Development Program, pay special attention to investing in urban development in key areas, saving land funds, and effectively using resources...

Mr. Le Quang Tung, Secretary of the Quang Tri Provincial Party Committee, emphasized that becoming a type II urban area is not only a title but also a great responsibility ahead. Being a type II urban area means that it is necessary to continue to promote investment, develop more strongly and sustainably in all areas of economy - society, infrastructure, environment, culture, national defense - security and even building the political system.

Dong Ha is increasingly innovative, strongly and comprehensively developed.
