According to the recently announced mid-term population and housing census report for 2024 by the General Statistics Office, the proportion of the population aged 15 and over who have ever been married nationwide is quite high, accounting for 74.9%, of which the number of people with wives/husbands currently accounts for 65.3%.
While the proportion of the population aged 15 and over who has never been married (has no wife/husband) is 25.1% of the total population aged 15 and over.
Compared to 2019, the proportion of people aged 15 and over who were ever married decreased from 77.5% to 74.9%.
The fastest decline in the proportion of “never married” is in the 15-29 age group for women and the 20-34 age group for men. These are the age groups that both men and women start to build families.
In the younger age group, the decline in the proportion of “never married” in women was higher and faster. However, after the age of 40, this trend reversed but the difference between men and women was not much.
This shows that the biggest contributor to the difference in the proportion of "single" men and women in the above age groups is not the "never married" group but the divorced and separated group...
However, as of 2024, being married is still common among the population aged 15 and over in Vietnam.

Early marriage area is the Northern Midlands and Mountains, average marriage age is 24.5 years, men are 26.7 years old and women are 22.2 years old.
Ho Chi Minh City is the leading locality in the country in terms of late marriage age, with an average of 30.1 years old, of which men are 31.5 years old and women are 28.8 years old.
Next is Ba Ria - Vung Tau with an average age of 29, men get married at 31.2 years old and women are 26.9 years old.
In Ha Tinh province, the average age of marriage for men is also later than the average of 30.5 years old; Tay Ninh is 30.4 years old, Thai Binh is 30.2 years old, and Hanoi is 29.5 years old.
The province with the earliest marriages is Son La with an average age of 22.2 years old. Of which, men are 24.2 years old and women are 20.2 years old. Next is Cao Bang with an average marriage age of 22.6 years old; men are 24.2 years old and women are 20.8 years old.
