Statistics from Thanh Hoa Provincial Police show that as of October 2023, Thanh Hoa province has detected and handled 51 cases of child abuse (with 75 subjects, 54 victims), including 37 cases of sexual abuse (with 41 subjects, 37 victims); police agencies at all levels have investigated and prosecuted 29 cases with 30 defendants; 8 cases are being verified; 14 other cases of abuse (with 37 subjects, 19 victims), police agencies at all levels have prosecuted 9 cases with 15 defendants, administratively handled 2 cases with 5 subjects, and are verifying 3 cases.
The hotline for receiving information on child protection in Thanh Hoa province at the Social Work Service Center via phone number 18001744 received 592 calls to the switchboard, of which 173 calls were related to children, 98 calls were related to gender-based violence. Through the hotline, 91 cases (36 cases of physical violence, 46 cases of mental violence, 9 cases of economic violence) were intervened, successfully intervening to help 7 children who were victims of violence in the area.

“At the prevention level, the Department of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs of Thanh Hoa province, together with related departments, branches and localities, have promoted the dissemination and education of laws related to the Law on Children, building a safe and suitable living environment for children. Up to now, according to statistics, in Thanh Hoa province, 466/559 communes, wards and towns have met the standards of child-friendly communes, wards and towns, reaching a rate of 83.4%.... Implementing programs, projects and models for child protection and care, the Department of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs of Thanh Hoa province, together with localities in the province, has maintained and implemented models for child protection and care in the area with 2 models of "Safe houses to prevent accidents and injuries to children" in Vinh Loc district; 1 model of "Consulting and guiding parents and caregivers on comprehensive development of children up to 8 years old with knowledge and skills for child care at home and in the community" in Yen Dinh district; 3 models of "Cities and villages that are safe and friendly to women and girls" in Sam Son city, Tho Xuan district and Thach Thanh district...
Implementing the activity "Navy sponsors fishermen's children" in Thanh Hoa province, Saigon New Port Corporation and Navy Division 128 have sponsored 8 children of fishermen in difficult circumstances with support from 500 thousand - 1 million/month/child and support with school supplies, clothes, shoes... to serve the children's daily life and study, the support period is until they finish grade 12; Thanh Hoa Provincial Children's Fund has implemented the activity of sponsoring children with special circumstances, difficult circumstances for 6 children in 3 districts with support of 500 thousand VND/child until the children turn 16 years old...
