Major General Igor Romanov, commander of the air force of the Russian Aerospace Forces, said this in an interview with the Krasnaya Zvezda newspaper.
He noted that it was not until this year that the Russian Aerospace Forces were equipped with deeply modernized Ka-52M and Mi-28NM combat helicopters using new types of guided missiles.
“The use in combat of light multipurpose guided missiles such as the Khrizantema ATGM and the Verba missile, with their specific characteristics, ensures the destruction of targets without entering the enemy’s air defense zone. Pilots highly appreciated the significantly increased combat capabilities of the upgraded helicopter,” Romanov said.
In January, Sputnik cited its own sources as saying that the LMUR missile began to be used on upgraded Ka-52M helicopters in the special military operations area.
LMUR, also known as “Izdeliye 305”, was first introduced at the Army 2021 exhibition. The missile is a product of the Kolomna Design Bureau of Machine Building and is designed to destroy stationary and moving targets, single and in groups, both day and night.
The missile is equipped with a 25 kg high explosive fragmentation warhead, ensuring high accuracy when destroying targets with a deviation from the line of sight of no more than 2 meters at a maximum distance of up to 14.5 km.
