Increase vehicle inspection prices to prevent and combat corruption

At the Conference on motor vehicle inspection in 2023 on the afternoon of January 13, Mr. Nguyen Chien Thang, Director of the Vietnam Register (VRS), said that 2024 is considered a pivotal year for the field of motor vehicle inspection due to a series of major changes.

The Vietnam Register focuses on a number of key directions, including proposing to adjust inspection service prices to suit reality, creating attractiveness for investors in this field.

"This is a very important solution in improving quality and preventing negativity in inspection work," said Mr. Thang.

Also at the conference, Mr. Thang added that, up to this point, the whole country has 274/292 Inspection Centers in operation (equivalent to 94%) with 447/542 inspection lines in operation (equivalent to more than 82% of the inspection capacity of the entire system).

There are currently 18 Centers that have stopped operating due to investigation work, lack of qualifications or voluntary closure. Therefore, from the end of June 2023, the nationwide inspection system has basically returned to normal operation, well meeting the vehicle inspection needs of people and businesses.

Regarding the human resources of vehicle inspectors, the Vietnam Register has organized 31 vehicle inspector assessments, newly recognized 295 vehicle inspectors and 279 senior vehicle inspectors; evaluated and re-issued vehicle inspector certificates to 217 vehicle inspectors and 236 senior vehicle inspectors.

Up to now, the whole country has 1,747 inspectors performing inspection work at inspection units, including 1,002 senior inspectors and 745 motor vehicle inspectors.
