Major General, Associate Professor, Dr. Nguyen Hoang Ngoc, Party Secretary, Deputy Director of 108 Central Military Hospital, said that many female patients after treatment shared that they always have thoughts and feelings about a complete and perfect female body.
The burden of breast cancer is not only physical but also a great mental sadness, deeply affecting self-confidence and quality of life. For them, the pain and obsession in their hearts are sometimes greater than the external defects.
Every year, Vietnam records about 21,000 new cases of breast cancer; accounting for 25.8% of cancer cases in women.
In particular, breast cancer in Vietnam tends to be younger, often with genetic factors, due to gene mutations.
Everyone has the common desire to be restored, but not everyone has the conditions. There are many reasons for this obstacle, because most patients with breast defects have to undergo long-term, expensive treatment, they may lose their ability to work, so they have little opportunity for cosmetic surgery, health insurance does not cover this type of disease, or the cost of breast reconstruction is quite high, requiring a team of experts to perform the procedure with skills, reputation and safety.
From this reality, the idea of helping patients with charity breast reconstruction surgery was implemented by 108 Military Central Hospital into the program "Breast reconstruction after cancer treatment".
This is a humanitarian surgery program implemented by 108 Aesthetic Center and the Center for Craniofacial and Plastic Surgery with partners, opening a free registration portal for breast cancer patients after treatment.

However, we want to bring a higher purpose of the medical industry, which is to target the disadvantaged, those who are sick. It is also cosmetic surgery, but the activity has a lot of meaning in restoring defects and recreating aesthetics caused by diseases."
The program aims to restore breasts for hundreds of unfortunate women who have been facing difficulties after breast cancer treatment across the country.
We want to spread the message of love and sharing to the community, so that unfortunate women feel cared for, encouraged and loved. We believe that beauty comes not only from appearance but also from extraordinary will and determination, and we want to honor the beauty of women who are resilient in fighting breast cancer. They are strong, brave and determined women.

The 108 Military Central Hospital and the Craniofacial and Plastic Surgery Center have implemented many humanitarian surgery programs, but mainly for congenital malformations, and this is the first time they have been implemented for patients with breast defects after cancer treatment. According to the hospital representative, the unit will evaluate the effectiveness of the programs to extend and expand this activity.
"Rebirth of the Breast - Hope of Rebirth" is not only a message, but also a word of encouragement and strength for those who have fought the disease, helping patients start a new journey full of confidence and happiness.
The program will be organized in several phases in 2025, creating conditions for patients to participate, reducing the burden of time and travel costs. Associate Professor, Dr. Nguyen Hoang Ngoc also said that the program will provide the best materials, products and human resources.

This activity is designed specifically for patients whose health has been stable for 2 to 3 years after breast cancer treatment; Have completed breast cancer treatment courses, with confirmation of stable health from a specialist; Women who have had one or both breasts removed after treatment.
Patients are exempted from surgery and breast implant costs, only pay for hospitalization and pre-operative testing costs, and are operated on directly by leading, experienced and dedicated experts.
