Actively clean up the beach in Quang Cong |
Spreading responsibility for environmental protection
The small road running along Lai Ha village, Quang Thai commune is now covered with dense flower beds. Every Saturday and Sunday morning, villagers gather to spend time cultivating, caring for, and pruning flower beds to make the village space greener. The flower beds near the village cultural house are also regularly fertilized by the villagers, competing to show off their colors. The "Green Sunday" movement has been implemented very systematically by the majority of Lai Ha villagers, in accordance with the local reality.
When the flower planting movement was first launched on the roads of Lai Ha village, a group of women went to "knock on the door" of each house to mobilize. Up to now, more than a hundred women have participated, with the aim of building a green - clean - bright living environment in their homeland. To have beautiful flower roads, Lai Ha villagers have chosen roads that are often polluted and unsightly to plant a trial flower road. From the trial models, up to now, the village Women's Association has implemented a "flower road" model with a length of nearly 550m with 150 flower beds and around the village community house.
“At first, people wanted to create a landscape for their house, so some families pioneered in planting flowers in front of their houses, then developed them into flower roads. Up to now, the whole commune has many rural flower roads managed by women. From the models of women's associations in the commune, the movement of planting flowers along the roads has spread strongly, receiving the response of many people. Not only that, the "Green Sunday" movement has spread the "Green Alley" model associated with flower roads, model roads, contributing to raising awareness of environmental protection, building a civilized lifestyle in the community. That is also the reason why the village was recognized by the Provincial Party Committee as a typical example in 5 years of implementing the movement "All people build Thua Thien Hue bright - green - clean, no waste" - Mr. Pham Cong Hung, Head of Lai Ha village shared.
With this approach, the “Green Sunday” movement has spread strongly in Quang Dien district. With increasingly positive changes, the movement has mobilized the participation of the entire political system and all classes of people, contributing to changing and raising awareness and responsibility of each individual in joining hands to preserve the landscape and environment. Many good models and creative ways have been implemented by localities and units, thereby creating clean and beautiful roads, at the same time forming a civilized lifestyle, spreading the responsibility to maintain hygiene and protect the environment in each individual and the whole community.
The models have been implemented effectively such as: the model "Green Homeland River" mobilized more than 300 youth volunteers and cadres, people in localities to clean the environment, collect waste, destroy cat's eye plants, salvage water fern on the river, attracting more than 5,000 participants; the model "Bright - green - clean - Orderly and safe routes" was implemented by 11/11 communes and towns with 93 routes; the model "Turning waste into money", "Green saving house", "Exchanging waste for consumer goods" was actively launched by the District Women's Union; maintaining 46 flower routes with 13,325m...
Change perception and way of doing
“Green Sunday” is not just a “movement” but has become a beautiful way of life, gradually building awareness and habits of the people, a regular and continuous activity in many flexible forms at each agency and unit in the whole Quang Dien district. Thereby, changing the appearance of the countryside, many environmental problems have been partly solved, the number of black spots of pollution has been reduced, the quality of people's lives has been improved. The results of implementing the “Green Sunday” movement in the district have contributed significantly to bringing a better living environment and cleaner air.
Chairman of the People's Committee of Quang Dien district Le Ngoc Bao shared that to continue to maintain the "Green Sunday" movement effectively and long-term, it is necessary to have the participation of the entire political system, the support and consensus of the people in environmental protection and importantly, the awareness must be uniform from leaders to the people. "The awareness of building Quang Dien bright - green - clean, no waste, environmental protection is clear, but the way of doing it must bring practical results, avoiding formalities. The "Green Sunday" movement must change awareness and the way of doing it, awareness must go deep into each association, political system, and spread in the community".
In the coming time, Quang Dien district will continue to promote propaganda and mobilize people not to litter indiscriminately, to dump garbage at the right time and place; to keep water sources and livestock barns clean, to use fertilizers and pesticides according to instructions, etc., contributing to the formation of a more civilized and responsible lifestyle towards the environment. Maintaining the "Green Sunday" movement is a meaningful activity that contributes to raising people's awareness as well as forming a more civilized and responsible lifestyle towards the environment.
