After changing names and owners, these shopping malls have not been able to recover, only operating at a low level with a sparse number of customers.
Before filing for bankruptcy, Parkson had been operating in Vietnam for 18 years, operating 10 shopping malls in Ho Chi Minh City, Hanoi and Hai Phong. In addition to Parkson Saigon Tourist Plaza, it also operated famous names such as Parkson Cantavil Premier (District 2), Parkson Hung Vuong Plaza (District 5), Parkson CT Plaza (Tan Binh District), Parkson Landmark 72 (Nam Tu Liem District), which are now only in the memories of many people. |
Parkson Cantavil opened in December 2013 and was the 9th shopping mall of this system in Vietnam and the 6th in Ho Chi Minh City at that time. Parkson Cantavil was invested with 8 million USD , with a total commercial area of up to 17,815 m2, including 1 basement and 5 business floors. However, after only a short time of operation, this shopping mall became deserted and quietly changed owners in 2018. |
Currently, this building has a new name: Cantavil Premier. After being transferred to a new owner, this commercial building has not shown any signs of improvement. The number of customers continues to decrease despite the brands continuously implementing promotional programs. |
Currently, there are only a few stalls operating at a low capacity on the ground floor. Some remaining stalls are also gradually closing and ceasing operations. |
Hung Vuong Plaza and Parkson shopping center (District 5) were opened in 2007 with a total business area of 24,000 m2 and a total investment of 6 million USD . Located from the ground floor to the 3rd floor is a shopping area that gathers leading fashion and cosmetic brands such as Adidas, Puma, Nike, Lancôme, Estee Lauder... However, just one year later, the number of visitors here gradually decreased, so the business situation was also very gloomy. |
Currently, according to Zing , this shopping mall has closed, stopped all business activities for repairs, and the reopening date is unknown. |
Located in the most expensive location in Ho Chi Minh City, at the gateway to Tan Son Nhat airport, surrounded by many high-rise buildings, offices, residential areas and very few high-end branded shopping malls, Parkson CT Plaza (Tan Binh district) was once quite crowded and bustling. However, the attraction of this shopping mall quickly declined and had to close in 2019. |
After more than a year of renovation, Parkson CT Plaza returned with a new name, Menas Mall Saigon Airport, in December 2020. Currently, business activities in this area are not very prosperous when, apart from the 1st and 5th floors, there are a few brands appearing sporadically, while floors 2-4 have almost no tenants. |
A few brands are operating at a low level on the first floor but rarely have customers. |
In Hanoi, in 2008, Parkson opened the high-end Viet Tower shopping mall with a total investment of 6 million USD , marking its first appearance in the Hanoi market. However, after only 8 years of operation, the shopping mall had to close on December 15, 2016. A year earlier, Parkson also suddenly closed the shopping mall at Keagnam Landmark 72 (opened at the end of 2011 with a total investment of 10 million USD , 5 floors, total retail area of over 36,000 m2) due to ineffective business.
