On June 10, the Russian Ministry of Defense officially announced that the Russian Armed Forces had taken full control of the Staromayorskoye settlement in the Donetsk region. Russian attacks caused significant losses in manpower for the Ukrainian Armed Forces, forcing some armed groups to retreat to the Makarovka settlement.
The Russian Defense Ministry reported: “The Vostok Force group (Russia) continues to penetrate deep into the defense lines of Ukraine and takes control of the Staromayorskoye area of the (self-proclaimed) Donetsk People's Republic.
The Russian Armed Forces inflicted damage to personnel and equipment of the 58th Motorized Rifle Brigade, the 72nd Motorized Brigade, the 123rd and 128th Territorial Defense Brigades of the Armed Forces of Ukraine near Velikaya Novosyolka, Vodyanoye, Neskuchnoye, Urozhaynoye and Ugledar in the self-proclaimed Donetsk People's Republic.
The losses of the Armed Forces of Ukraine amounted to two vehicles, one British-made FH-70 multiple rocket launcher, one 152 mm D-20 multiple rocket launcher and one 122 mm D-30 multiple rocket launcher.
It should be recalled that during the counteroffensive last year, the Armed Forces of Ukraine captured several villages in this direction: Vremevka, Blagodatnoye, Neskuchne, Makarovka, Staromayorskoye and Urozhaynoye. The battle for Staromayorskoye lasted almost a year, and during this time the village changed control several times.
The control of Staromayorskoye in the Veremeyevsky direction is of great tactical importance for the Russian forces and will give an additional impetus to the Russian army's operations on the front line. The heights near the village will allow the Russian forces to advance forward.
In addition, it is reported that Russian forces have improved their positions in Urozhaynoye and have advanced to the center of the village. Clashes continue inside the village.
Not only stepping up attacks on the front line, the Russian army also increased attacks on many military positions of the Ukrainian Armed Forces to disrupt Ukrainian logistical operations in the Veremeyevsky area.
Video footage of the Russian attack on the Makarovka area has been made public. Makarovka is where the Ukrainian army has reserves and is preparing to move to the Staromayorskoye and Urozhaynoye areas.
Over the past few weeks, the Russian Air Force has carried out a number of effective attacks on vital transport routes of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, in particular the bridges in Velikaya Novosyolka.
