(Dan Tri) - In early 2025, after completing the administrative restructuring, Thanh Hoa city and newly established wards will officially come into operation.
Thanh Hoa City, Thanh Hoa Province held a conference to deploy the plan to implement the resolution of the National Assembly Standing Committee on the arrangement of administrative units at district and commune levels.
In the 2023-2025 period, the entire natural area of nearly 83 square kilometers and a population of more than 101,000 people of Dong Son district will be merged into Thanh Hoa city, keeping the name of Thanh Hoa city after the merger.
At the same time, Thanh Hoa city established 4 new wards, including Rung Thong, Dong Thinh, Hoang Quang, Hoang Dai; merged Tan Son ward into Phu Son ward.
After the arrangement, Thanh Hoa city has 47 commune-level administrative units (including 33 wards and 14 communes), a natural area of more than 228km2 and a population of more than 615,000 people.

According to the plan, Thanh Hoa city and the newly established wards after the arrangement will officially operate from January 1, 2025.
After coming into operation, the units maintain continuous operation, ensuring effectiveness and efficiency; not disrupting the lives and activities of the people and the production and business of the units and enterprises located in the area.
Relevant units will carry out the handover and acceptance of the natural area, population size and all related records and documents of Dong Son district to Thanh Hoa city.
At the conference, representatives of the Thanh Hoa Department of Home Affairs announced the decision of the Thanh Hoa Provincial People's Committee on establishing a working group to carry out the task of merging Dong Son district into Thanh Hoa city.
Mr. Le Anh Xuan, Secretary of Thanh Hoa City Party Committee, emphasized that the integration of Dong Son district into Thanh Hoa city and the establishment of new wards is of special importance, opening a new milestone for the locality to develop more strongly and comprehensively in the future.
To ensure the merger is in accordance with regulations, Mr. Xuan requested that the advisory agencies of Thanh Hoa city and Dong Son district proactively coordinate to best prepare the conditions for the merger.
During the implementation process, the two localities need to regularly exchange information so that the arrangement of administrative units is carried out scientifically, reasonably, seriously, responsibly, with quality and efficiency.
Along with that, localities need to step up propaganda work to create high consensus among cadres, party members and people of all walks of life. New administrative units after the merger must create the most favorable conditions for people and businesses when converting documents according to their authority.
Dong Son district and Thanh Hoa city need to develop specific and detailed plans, assign specific tasks to each unit and individual; carry out well the statistics, inventory, records and documents to implement the reception and handover between the old administrative unit and the new administrative unit.
