In particular, the LED size for Micro LEDs is smaller than 50㎛, only 10% of that of conventional LEDs. Micro LEDs have the ability to self-illuminate, creating light and color without the need for backlights or color filters like conventional TVs. As a result, users will have a brighter, sharper screen with unprecedented precision. The self-illumination ability of inorganic Micro LEDs also ensures that the TV does not experience burn-in, providing superior image quality for nearly 100,000 hours.

Samsung is known to have spent 6 years researching to create this type of screen. The process of selecting the highest quality Micro LEDs is likened to the process of diamond appraisal by gemologists. A series of advanced technologies and strict criteria have been applied by Samsung to select Micro LEDs that meet the exact standards of luminance, dispersion and rating.
Micro LED TVs are created by Samsung based on many strict criteria of modern decoration needs.
“ During the development process, we screened over 10 billion LEDs to develop surface-mount technology. This allowed us to position 24 million Micro LEDs, each thinner than a human hair, on the panel. Additionally, we applied nanometer technology from Samsung’s semiconductor expertise to successfully narrow the edges of the modules, creating a bezel-less display at any size,” said Han Jeongin, Manufacturing R&D Division at Samsung Electronics .
Not only is Samsung meticulous in its production process, its Micro LED calibration process is also incredibly rigorous. Accordingly, each Samsung Micro LED TV screen undergoes more than 40,000 calibration cycles, classified from pixel level to module, block and final product.
The future of audiovisual in the living room
The result of a complex research process, Samsung Micro LED TVs deliver a stunning visual experience never before seen on a home screen. According to Tae-yong Son, Vice President, Micro LED Team, Visual Display Business at Samsung Electronics, conventional displays such as OLED and LCD have filters and additional layers of materials that can block or absorb some of the light, which affects the visual experience to some extent. Meanwhile, Samsung Micro LED TVs do not use additional layers of materials and RGB LEDs are self-illuminating, delivering extremely pure light and color.
