According to information from the Ho Chi Minh City Border Guard, on the evening of June 4, the Hiep Phuoc Port Border Guard Station (Ho Chi Minh City Port Border Guard) rescued two people on a barge that sank on the river due to heavy rain and big waves.
Accordingly, at around 6:00 p.m. on June 4, Soai Rap Border Control Station forces patrolled the area under their management.
At the Phu My 1 buoy area of Soai Rap channel, authorities discovered a barge with license plate LA 08086 traveling on Soai Rap river in the direction from Dong Nai to Long An with signs of sinking due to wind, rain, and big waves.
Immediately, the Ho Chi Minh City Border Guard force approached. When the functional force approached, the barge was also sunk by the big waves. The two people on the barge, Mr. Nguyen Van Ut Nam (born in 1973) and Ms. Huynh Thi Kim Buong (born in 1977), both residing in Can Duoc district, Long An, were rescued and brought safely to shore.
According to the Ho Chi Minh City Border Guard, also in the afternoon of the same day, due to heavy rain and storms, two barges at buoys No. 6 and No. 8 had their mooring lines broken and collided with the Go Gia canoe shelter, causing damage and dents. Fortunately, no one was injured.
An 800-ton barge anchored on the river in Can Gio district (HCMC) to receive goods from a foreign ship had an accident that left one person missing.
