(CPV) - The 2024 Rural Industrial Products and OCOP Products Exhibition Fair is not only a place to promote typical products but also creates momentum to promote rural economic development, connect markets and honor traditional cultural values of the locality.

On the evening of December 12, at Quang Oai Stadium, Tay Dang town, Ba Vi district, Hanoi Department of Industry and Trade coordinated with Ba Vi District People's Committee to organize the opening ceremony of the 2024 Rural Industrial Products and OCOP Products Exhibition Fair. The event is not only a place to promote typical products but also creates momentum to promote rural economic development, connect markets and honor traditional cultural values of the locality.

Delegates cut the ribbon to open the event.

This year’s fair brings together more than 120 booths from businesses, traditional craft villages, and rural industrial production facilities in Ba Vi district and Hanoi city. The products on display include sophisticated handicrafts, high-quality OCOP products, clean food, and typical items such as: Ba Vi fresh milk, dairy products, hill chicken, ostrich meat, cellophane noodles, sweet potatoes, safe vegetables, and traditional medicine from craft villages.

The Director of the Center for Industrial Promotion and Industrial Development Consulting - Hanoi Department of Industry and Trade affirmed: "The Fair and Exhibition not only honors the traditional values and identities of Hanoi's craft villages but is also an opportunity for businesses to connect, expand cooperation and bring products further, meeting the increasingly demanding needs of the market."

Mr. Hoang Minh Lam - Director of Hanoi Center for Industrial Promotion and Industrial Development Consulting opened the Fair.

In addition to the booths, the fair dedicated a special space to honor OCOP products of Ba Vi district – a symbol of innovation, creativity and preservation of traditional values. Currently, the district has 86 OCOP products meeting 3 and 4 star standards, of which 6 products have been honored with 5 stars at the national level. The fair also offers many attractive activities such as handicraft demonstrations, seminars on sharing experiences in developing OCOP products, and business exchange programs. These activities not only contribute to enriching the fair but also promote the connection between manufacturers, distributors and consumers.

Speaking at the event, Mr. Tran Quang Khuyen - Vice Chairman of Ba Vi District People's Committee said that Ba Vi district has achieved new rural standards in 2023, marking a great step forward in socio-economic development. After 5 years of implementing the "One Commune One Product" (OCOP) program, the district has developed 96 high-quality products, contributing to improving people's income and life.

The district aims to evaluate and classify 35 more OCOP products by 2025, including 32 new products and 3 re-evaluated products. The district focuses on organic, environmentally friendly products that meet modern consumer tastes. In particular, participating production facilities will be encouraged by specific support policies: 3-star products will receive a reward of 8 million VND, 4-star products will receive 10 million VND, and 5-star products will receive 15 million VND. This policy both encourages production facilities to innovate and improve quality, and creates motivation for the Ba Vi OCOP brand to reach further in the national and international markets.

According to the Hanoi Department of Industry and Trade, in recent years, the Central Government and Hanoi City have implemented many policies to support the development of craft villages through trade promotion and industrial promotion programs, actively contributing to the economic restructuring, creating jobs for rural people and promoting local economic growth. Handicraft products from Ba Vi have contributed significantly to export turnover, accounting for about 6-8% of the total annual export turnover of the region.

The 2024 Ba Vi District Rural Industrial Products and OCOP Exhibition Fair is not only a bridge connecting businesses and production facilities with the market, but also a catalyst to promote close links between manufacturers, distributors and consumers. This year's fair is expected to be an important stepping stone, enhancing the brand of local products and making Ba Vi a bright spot in rural economic development. Thanks to that, the district's unique products will be widely promoted, creating opportunities to reach further in the domestic and international markets.
