Regarding the case of "a 6-year-old boy suspected of being abused in District 8", on October 3, a source from SGGP Newspaper's reporter said that the People's Committee of District 8 (HCMC) had provided initial information about the incident.
Accordingly, at around 3:30 p.m. on October 1, Ms. NTV (born in 1999, residing in Phu Yen province) went to the police station of Ward 16 (District 8, Ho Chi Minh City) to report that her child, NTK (born in 2018, residing in District 8), was being abused. Ms. V. said that in 2016, she and Mr. NQT (born in 2000, residing in Ward 5, District 8) lived together as husband and wife but did not register their marriage.
In 2018, she and Mr. T. had a child, K., together. In April 2021, due to lack of feelings, the two broke up and Ms. V. brought K. to live in Phu Yen province.
In mid-July 2024, due to not having time to take care of baby K., Ms. V. proactively contacted Mr. T. and entrusted her child to him to take care of in Phu Yen.
On September 28, Ms. V. received a phone call from Mr. C. informing her that baby K., who was living with her father at the house on An Duong Vuong Street (Ward 16, District 8), showed signs of burns, so Mr. C.'s family took her to Children's Hospital 1 for treatment.
On April 29, Ms. V. arrived in Ho Chi Minh City and went to the hospital to take care of her child. Preliminary diagnosis results showed that K. had burns on her ankles, feet and both legs, injuries from being beaten.
Mrs. V. saw injuries on her child that she suspected were caused by abuse, so she reported it to the police. During the investigation, the police invited relevant people to come and talk.
Checking the house in Ward 8, the police noted that Mr. T. no longer resides there. The police are currently verifying the places where Mr. T. may have gone to invite him to clarify the incident and handle it according to regulations.
On the morning of October 2, the leaders of Ward 16 (District 8) directed the Ward People's Committee, the Women's Union, and the ward's organizations to go to the residence, work with the landlord and neighboring households to gather information; establish a working group to visit the child's health and learn about the family's thoughts and wishes to have directions to support the solution.
After learning about the actual situation, the residents of the house where K. lived have checked out and left the area. Currently, the authorities are assessing K.'s injuries and searching for Mr. K. and his girlfriend to clarify the incident.
