Speaking at the opening ceremony, Deputy Prime Minister Tran Luu Quang highly appreciated the role of the China-South Asia Fair and the Kunming Import-Export Fair in supporting the business community of Southeast Asia and South Asia in seeking investment cooperation opportunities, enhancing trade exchanges, promoting production and business, overcoming difficulties, and gradually restoring the economy after the Covid-19 pandemic.
The Deputy Prime Minister emphasized that located in the dynamically developing Southeast Asia region, Vietnam has outstanding competitive advantages, converging conditions to become an ideal destination for foreign investors, attracting new generation FDI and being a potential destination in the process of shifting and restructuring the global supply chain and production network.
The Deputy Prime Minister highly appreciated the role of Yunnan province in cooperation with Vietnam and ASEAN countries; with the existing cooperation mechanisms, he suggested that the Chinese Government and Yunnan provincial authorities continue to pay attention to and promote comprehensive cooperation and extensive connectivity in economy, trade and tourism between Yunnan and Vietnamese localities.

* On the same day, Deputy Prime Minister Tran Luu Quang, Chairman of the Vietnam sub-committee in the Vietnam-China Bilateral Cooperation Steering Committee, met with Comrade Wang Yi, Politburo member, Director of the Office of the Central Foreign Affairs Commission, Minister of Foreign Affairs of China, Chairman of the China sub-committee in the Vietnam-China Bilateral Cooperation Steering Committee.
At the meeting, both sides expressed their joy and appreciation for the development trend and positive achievements in Vietnam-China relations in recent times, especially after recent high-level contacts, especially the official visit to China by General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong right after the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China.
Deputy Prime Minister Tran Luu Quang affirmed Vietnam's consistent policy of attaching importance to developing friendly neighborly relations and comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership between Vietnam and China; suggested that the two sides closely coordinate, promote the concretization of high-level common perceptions; actively prepare well for exchange activities and delegations at high and all levels; promote trade cooperation in a more sustainable direction; and strengthen connectivity of railway and road transport infrastructure.
Appreciating the cooperation proposals of Deputy Prime Minister Tran Luu Quang, comrade Wang Yi emphasized that China attaches importance to developing friendly neighborly relations with Vietnam; is ready to closely coordinate to prepare well for high-level visits and contacts in the coming time; and agreed to continue to effectively promote cooperation mechanisms between the two countries, especially the Vietnam-China Bilateral Cooperation Steering Committee.
Comrade Wang Yi affirmed that China is ready to support Vietnam in realizing the economic development goals set by the 13th National Congress of the Communist Party of Vietnam; he hopes that the two sides will strengthen cooperation in the fields of economy and trade, including connecting transport infrastructure and local exchanges, and enhance coordination and cooperation in international and regional forums.
During the meeting, the two sides agreed to work with ASEAN to maintain peace, stability and promote cooperation in the East Sea.

The Deputy Prime Minister suggested that in the coming time, the two sides should increase the exchange of delegations at all levels, effectively implement existing bilateral cooperation mechanisms, especially the Joint Committee chaired by the Foreign Ministers of the two countries; promote cooperation in trade, investment, tourism, agriculture, education and training, cultural and religious exchanges, and people-to-people exchanges; express readiness to study the opening of air routes between the two sides; and suggest that the two sides continue to closely coordinate at regional and international forums, especially at the United Nations and the Non-Aligned Movement.
Prime Minister Dinesh Gunawardena affirmed that the Sri Lankan Government attaches importance to further developing cooperative relations with Vietnam; hopes that the two sides will promote cooperation in the fields of economics, trade and investment, including opening direct flights, rubber cultivation and processing, freshwater aquaculture, Buddhist exchanges, and spiritual tourism; and requests that Vietnam support Sri Lanka in participating in the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP).
At the meeting, the two sides also discussed many international and regional issues of mutual concern.

* On the occasion of visiting Yunnan province, China, Deputy Prime Minister Tran Luu Quang visited and offered flowers at the President Ho Chi Minh relic site in Kunming and surveyed the Yunnan Nongkan Group.
The China-South Asia Expo and the Kunming Import and Export Fair are the largest and most important international trade promotion activities in Southwest China, aiming to promote comprehensive cooperation and development between China and countries in South Asia and Southeast Asia. This fair has the theme "Solidarity, Cooperation, Seeking Development". In addition to the Opening Ceremony, the Fair has a number of main activities such as: China-South Asia Cooperation Forum, GMS Economic Corridor Governors' Forum 2023, China-South Asia Trade Forum, China-South Asia Trade Forum, China-South Asia Innovation and Technology Transfer Conference, China-South Asia and Southeast Asia Cultural and Arts Week... The fair has a scale of 150,000 m2 with 15 exhibition areas, 8,000 booths of 30 countries/territories and enterprises of 20 provinces and cities of China. The Vietnamese business delegation participating in the Fair has a scale of 130 booths of more than 70 businesses with displayed products including: agricultural and aquatic products, footwear, perfumes, wooden furniture and handicrafts... |
