On the afternoon of November 24 (local time), during a working visit to the Kingdom of Denmark, Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha and his delegation met with officials and staff of the Vietnamese Embassy and representatives of the Vietnamese community in the capital Copenhagen.
Vietnamese Ambassador to Denmark Le Thanh Nghi said that there are currently more than 16,000 Vietnamese people living, studying and working in Denmark, actively contributing to the socio-economic development and complying with the laws of the host country. In addition, they are always united, looking towards their homeland, maintaining the national cultural identity, especially during traditional holidays and New Year, contributing to the culture and cuisine of Denmark. The movement of teaching and learning Vietnamese for children is developing very strongly in the community.
Notably, the Association of Vietnamese Experts and Intellectuals in Denmark was established with the aim of gathering, uniting and connecting Vietnamese experts, intellectuals, scientists as well as Vietnamese students and postgraduates working and studying at institutes, research agencies and universities in Denmark, helping experts and intellectuals support each other in research, work and life, promoting the abilities and intelligence of each individual as well as the collective of Vietnamese experts and intellectuals in Denmark, contributing to the construction of the homeland and country, contributing to the development of Vietnam.
In addition, the Association's activities also aim to strengthen scientific and technological cooperation between Vietnam and Denmark, contributing to consolidating and tightening the friendship between Vietnam and Denmark.
Dr. Nguyen Thanh Tam, working at the University of Copenhagen, said that the cooperation message from both the Vietnamese and Danish governments is very strong, however, it is necessary to find ways to connect businesses, scientists, and intellectuals of the two countries more, to have more effective cooperation and investment projects, with "trust, cultural similarities, and public, transparent, open, and fast administrative mechanisms, policies, and procedures".
Dr. Nguyen Thanh Tam proposed establishing joint research groups on the two countries with the participation of overseas Vietnamese scientists and intellectuals so that Danish businesses can invest more in Vietnam, and Vietnamese businesses can expand their markets in Denmark and the Nordic countries.
Ms. Nguyen Bich Hong, Member of the Executive Committee of the Association of Vietnamese Intellectuals and Experts in Denmark, wishes to participate in specific projects and tasks in the fields of green transformation, digital transformation, sustainable development; channels for professional exchange, sharing experiences with ministries and branches, especially in building mechanisms and policies.
On behalf of the Party and State leaders, the Deputy Prime Minister acknowledged and highly appreciated the contributions of the Vietnamese community in Denmark to the relationship between the two countries; always wholeheartedly turning towards the homeland and country. "Overseas Vietnamese are an important bridge, making practical contributions to the deep integration development of the country in recent times".
Over the past 50 years, Vietnam and Denmark have always had a very good and valuable friendship and affection. Denmark has actively supported Vietnam in the struggle for national independence and reunification in the past as well as in the current national construction and development.
Denmark provides Vietnam with important development aid, along with cooperation and support projects to enhance capacity and vision for building strategies and plans to respond to climate change, sustainable development, green transformation, etc.
To date, Vietnam has a deeply integrated economy, with an increasingly important role and position in the region and the world, as well as in multilateral organizations, forums and cooperation mechanisms. "All major multilateral conferences and forums such as G7, G20, BRICS, etc. highly appreciate the role and position of Vietnam as a country with potential, strength and confidence," said the Deputy Prime Minister.
In the context of the complicated and unpredictable world situation, shifting supply chains, post-COVID impacts, and emerging conflicts, Vietnam is still considered a typical and bright spot in economic development.
Vietnam is one of the countries with the largest export turnover in the world; always has a stable, attractive, open investment and business environment, increasingly perfected, harmonized with international agreements and laws of other countries; FDI attraction increases every year, many large Danish corporations are present in Vietnam...
Besides, Vietnam has great potential and advantages in marine economy, wind power, solar power, etc. If exploited and promoted, it will "become late but can go together and surpass others".
The Deputy Prime Minister hopes that overseas Vietnamese, especially experts, scientists and intellectuals, will actively and proactively participate with the government, localities and businesses in identifying areas where Vietnam and Denmark have potential, needs and strengths, and establish partnerships at the corresponding level.
Informing the people about some key features of the country's socio-economic development situation and preparations for the 14th National Party Congress, the Deputy Prime Minister said that 2025 will be the starting year for the country to prepare to enter a new era - an era of national growth "with innovation, different thinking, and revolutionary solutions", aiming to achieve important development goals, including the two goals of 100 years of the Party's founding and 100 years of the country's founding.
First of all, the Party and the State consider institutions as the breakthrough of breakthroughs. Institutional building not only corrects and overcomes the shortcomings, shortcomings and weaknesses of the current legal system, but also requires innovation in thinking about building, creating and initiating development models like Denmark, with mechanisms and policies for green economy, green energy, digital transformation, knowledge resources, renewable resources instead of traditional resources...
At the same time, create a creative development space for people, businesses, management agencies and stakeholders; mobilize and effectively use resources of domestic people and overseas Vietnamese.
In addition, we will reform the apparatus and administrative organization from the central to local levels, perfect and synchronize personnel work, "streamline, compactness, efficiency", reduce regular expenditures, increase investment in developing transport infrastructure, urban areas, energy, digital transformation, etc.
According to the Deputy Prime Minister, the Party and State have had many directives, mechanisms and policies showing their concern for overseas Vietnamese such as: Expanding the rights of overseas Vietnamese in the law on land, housing, etc.; attracting overseas Vietnamese businesses, experts and scientists into the fields of core technology, semiconductor technology, renewable energy, nuclear power, etc.; considering the mobilization of talent and training of high-quality human resources to adapt to a changing world as new development resources.
