Economic development flourishes
In 2024, Chau Thanh District Party Committee and People's Committee organized the correct implementation and met the requirements for 6/6 key tasks; achieved and exceeded 16/16 targets of the 2024 Program. The work of Party building and the political system achieved many important results.
At the same time, deploy, thoroughly grasp and concretize the leadership and direction documents of the Central and the Provincial Party Committee in a timely, appropriate and effective manner, especially the resolutions, projects and programs of the Provincial Party Committee; proactively develop and complete the documents of the 13th District Party Congress and lead the Party cells under the grassroots Party Committee to complete the Congress for the 2025-2027 term, lead the Party cells and Party Committees directly under the District Party Committee to develop and complete the documents and Personnel Project of the Congress for the 2025-2030 term, proactively prepare and basically complete the personnel work of the District Party Congress for the 2025-2030 term according to regulations and instructions, aiming to build a government that effectively serves the people and businesses.
In the district, there is an industrial park, 3 industrial clusters and Song Hau Power Center, with a total area of 855 hectares, the general occupancy rate is about 89%, there are 42 investment projects in production and business (with 9 foreign projects); 3 infrastructure business projects.
Overcoming difficulties, Chau Thanh's economy continued to grow comprehensively, maintaining a high level; the economic structure shifted appropriately and in the right direction; total social investment capital, total budget revenue, and disbursement of public investment capital were focused on, achieved, and exceeded the plan; planning, management of construction planning, and land use continued to receive attention and be strengthened. Compensation, support, resettlement, and land recovery for key projects in the district were focused on and implemented with full force; many long-standing difficulties and problems were handled and resolved.
Notably, the economic structure is developing in the right direction, gradually reducing the proportion of agriculture and increasing the proportion of industry and services. The total social investment is estimated at 5,661 billion VND, up 17.81% compared to the plan and up 14.34% compared to the same period.

Orientation to become a gateway town of Hau Giang province
According to Decision No. 868 of Hau Giang Provincial People's Committee on approving the Construction Planning Project of Chau Thanh district to 2030, with a vision to 2050, Chau Thanh is identified as one of the administrative, economic, cultural, educational - training, service and commercial centers that play a role in promoting the socio-economic development of the central region of the South Hau River and Hau Giang province, is the urban, service, industrial, logistics and concentrated logistics development area of the province, the key urban and industrial corridor of Hau Giang province and the West Hau River region.
According to the plan, Chau Thanh district will have a concentrated industrial park of nearly 1,200 hectares by 2030, more than 3,100 hectares by 2050, and industrial clusters of 480 hectares. It is expected that by 2030, the district's population will reach 145,000 people, and by 2045, it will reach 205,000 people. Currently, Chau Thanh has identified development axes to expand urban space and inner-city areas based on reference to regional planning orientations, provincial planning, and a number of large projects calling for investment, population criteria to achieve type IV urban status and towards type III urban criteria.
Regarding development orientation, Chau Thanh prioritizes investment in infrastructure such as transportation, ports, logistics, agriculture, industry, culture, urban areas, tourism, social infrastructure, education, healthcare... At the same time, implementing investment projects in each phase to achieve type IV urban area...
Mr. Nguyen Huu Nghia, Member of the Provincial Party Standing Committee, Secretary of Chau Thanh District Party Committee, said that the district will mobilize all resources for rapid and sustainable socio-economic development, building the district into an industrial, urban center and a driving force for development of the province; developing culture, ensuring the environment, solving social issues well; maintaining national defense and security; improving the material and spiritual life of the people; striving to develop Chau Thanh into a town before 2030.
