The workshop was co-chaired by Lieutenant General, Associate Professor, Doctor Nguyen Van Bao, Director of the Academy of Politics; Associate Professor, Doctor Pham Van Linh, Vice Chairman of the Central Theoretical Council; Major General Nguyen Dinh Chien, Party Committee Secretary, Deputy General Director of Viettel Group. Attending the workshop were leaders and representatives of ministries, departments, central branches and agencies and units under the Central Military Commission - Ministry of National Defense. As part of a series of propaganda activities to celebrate the 80th anniversary of the founding of the Vietnam People's Army and the 35th anniversary of the National Defense Day, the workshop is an opportunity to raise awareness of the maturity, growth and tradition of the Vietnam People's Army over the past 80 years; the maturity, development and contributions of the Academy of Politics, the Military Industry - Telecommunications Group and the Defense - Security - Foreign Affairs Subcommittee (Central Theoretical Council) in the cause of national construction and defense, especially in the cause of industrialization and modernization of the country. With a serious, democratic and scientific spirit, the presentations at the Workshop, although approaching from different aspects, all affirmed: The birth of the Vietnam People's Army is the inevitable result of the correct revolutionary line of the Communist Party of Vietnam and Ho Chi Minh's military ideology. The Vietnam People's Army has a working class nature, a deeply people's and national character. It is an army born from the people, fighting for the people. Absolutely loyal to the Party, the Fatherland and the people, the Vietnam People's Army has developed from nothing to something, from small to large, from weak to strong, the more it fights, the stronger it becomes, and has achieved many extremely glorious feats. In addition, the presentations were consistent with the assessment: The Vietnam People's Army has thoroughly grasped and excellently implemented the correct, creative, independent and autonomous political and military lines of the Communist Party of Vietnam; creatively applying Marxism-Leninism and Ho Chi Minh thought, firmly grasping the flag of national independence and socialism, linking national duties with international duties; resolutely using revolutionary violence to crush the counter-revolutionary violence of the colonial and imperialist regimes; resolutely fighting against hostile forces; holding high the flag of peace and progress; truly being the core force together with the entire people to firmly protect the independence, sovereignty, unity and territorial integrity of the Fatherland... At the same time, the presentations also focused on analyzing and deepening the nature and fine traditions of the Vietnam People's Army - the qualities of Uncle Ho's soldiers; absolute loyalty to the glorious revolutionary cause of the Party, wholeheartedly serving the Fatherland and the people; the will to fight and win, bravery, intelligence, creativity, solidarity, unity, self-discipline and strictness. Among the factors that create the overall quality of the Army, the revolutionary nature, political mettle of Uncle Ho's soldiers, the close bond with the people, the spirit of determination to fight and win, courage, intelligence, creativity, solidarity and unity... are the top important factors that create the fighting strength of our Army.
"The heroic tradition and those noble qualities were forged and strongly promoted in the two resistance wars against French colonialism, American imperialism and in the war to defend the Fatherland, and once again shined in the struggle against the plots and tricks of "peaceful evolution" and "depoliticization" of the army by hostile forces today," Lieutenant General Nguyen Van Bao affirmed. Opinions at the workshop agreed that, in the context of globalization and increasingly deep international integration, inheriting and promoting the glorious revolutionary tradition, the Vietnam People's Army needs to continue to thoroughly grasp, thoroughly and effectively implement the Party's viewpoints and guidelines on national defense and protection of the Fatherland in the new situation. The army needs to do a good job of researching, evaluating, forecasting the situation, advising the Party and the State to plan the right military and national defense policies; successfully handle possible situations, not letting the Fatherland be passive or surprised; ready to defeat all acts of aggression by hostile forces, firmly protect independence, sovereignty, unity and territorial integrity, protect the Party, the State, the people and the socialist regime. To meet the requirements and tasks of protecting the Fatherland in the new period, in the coming time, along with the process of modernizing the armed forces according to the projects on adjusting the organization and equipment strategy for the Army until 2025, especially building the Army in the direction of being lean, compact and strong, opinions at the Workshop proposed the need to continue to innovate political and ideological education work to ensure that the Army always maintains its working class nature, is absolutely loyal to the Fatherland, the Party, the State and the people.
