(NADS) - On October 24, Vietnam News Agency launched the 7th "Golden Moment" Press Photo Award (KKV7) to honor outstanding authors and press works that capture impressive and emotional moments through the lens of photography.
Attending the ceremony were Ms. Vu Viet Trang, General Director of VNA, Chairwoman of the 7th Golden Moment Press Photo Awards Council; Mr. Nguyen Tuan Hung, Deputy General Director of VNA, Head of the Awards Organizing Committee; Mr. Nguyen Thang, Editor-in-Chief of Vietnam Pictorial, Vice Chairman of the Press Photo Awards Council, along with many journalists and reporters attending and reporting.
"Golden Moment" is a forum that brings together journalists and photographers to demonstrate their talent, professionalism in technical processing and agility to capture the most impressive moments in all fields of politics, economics, culture - society, science - technology, technology, and sports.
Speaking at the launching ceremony, General Director of Vietnam News Agency Vu Viet Trang said that over 6 seasons, thousands of quality press photos that have the power to spread and move viewers have been submitted to the contest, showing that the life of press photography is extremely vibrant, constantly developing according to the pace of life of the country and increasingly integrating deeply with world photography.
The notable points in this year's contest rules are: The author must ensure the accuracy and honesty of the information content of the work and be responsible for the copyright of the work. Press photos do not accept editing. In addition, all photos must be taken between August 15, 2023 and November 30, 2024 and the Organizing Committee will only accept photo files via the Contest website www.khoanhkhacvang.vn with the parameters on the files must be intact, not edited.
In addition, the award structure of this Contest includes 2 sets of awards for single photos and photo series with 01 First Prize, 02 Second Prizes, 03 Third Prizes, 05 Encouragement Prizes, no Special Prize like the previous Photo Awards. Explaining this change, Mr. Nguyen Tuan Hung, Deputy General Director of VNA, Head of the Organizing Committee of the Contest, said that the award structure this time does not change the quality of the winning works and that the cost can help improve the quality of the Contest organization.
The deadline for receiving works is October 24, 2024 and the deadline is November 30, 2024. The award ceremony of the 7th "Golden Moment" Press Photo Award is scheduled to take place in December 2024.
RULES OF THE 7TH GOLDEN MOMENT PRESS PHOTO AWARD
1. Topic:
The works participating in KKV7 reflect diverse aspects of Vietnam's political, diplomatic, economic, cultural, medical, educational, sports, technological, environmental life...; expressing unique, humane perspectives and responsibilities towards the country and the community.
2. Contestants:
Professional and non-professional photographers are Vietnamese and foreign citizens. Members of the Award Council, Organizing Committee and Jury do not participate in the Award.
3. Contest time:
Entries must be taken from August 15, 2023 and accepted until November 30, 2024.
Closing and award ceremony: In December 2024
4. Regulations of the Organizing Committee:
- The photo submitted to the contest can be a single photo or a photo series (photo reportage/group photo).
+ Single photo: Each photo is a work of art
+ Photo series: Each photo series is considered a work, consisting of 5 to 10 photos. Each photo series must have an introduction to the content of the series (maximum 150 words). The author must number the photos in the series from 1 to 10 (the website for receiving photos will have specific instructions when the author submits the photos).
In case the author submits both single and series photos, the single photo must not be the same as the photo in the series.
- Contest photos must be in color or black and white. The work must be taken using realistic methods, and the lighting can be adjusted, but absolutely no collages or additions or subtractions that distort reality. In case of necessity, the Organizing Committee will ask the author to submit the original file to verify the information.
- Each author has the right to submit an unlimited number of works. In case multiple people create the same work, the prize will be awarded to the group of authors. The author's name can only be used as one name according to the Press Card, Citizen Identification Card or Passport.
- The entries must be works that have not been used or have been used in national media during the above period.
- Authors must be responsible for the copyright of their works when submitting works to the contest. The Organizing Committee is not responsible for any disputes related to copyright of works. The Organizing Committee is allowed to remove works that violate the rules before, during and after the Contest.
- Contest photos must be in digital image file format, JPG format, with minimum specifications of 2M, file size: 2000 x 3000 pixels, resolution 300 pixels/inch.
- Images displaying information such as: Name, watermark, location, border, etc. will not be valid.
- Based on the recommendation of the Jury, the Decision of the Award Council will be final.
- The Organizing Committee has the right to decide which works among the works selected by the Jury to display at the Award Ceremony. The Organizing Committee has the right to decide the number of photos as well as redesign the layout of the photo series to serve the display at the Award Ceremony.
5. Author's rights:
- The Organizing Committee of the Contest has the right to use without compensation the photos of the awarded and displayed works for information, propaganda and foreign affairs activities for non-commercial purposes. Personal rights belong to the author.
For other works (other than the winning and exhibited works), if selected for information and propaganda purposes, the Organizing Committee, accompanying units and sponsors will negotiate with the author and copyright owner.
- The winning works will be awarded with certificates, cash prizes or prizes in kind. If used for publication or broadcast on VNA's information products, they will be paid royalties according to regulations. Cash prizes must fulfill income tax obligations according to the law.
6. Board of Judges:
The Jury of the "Golden Moment" Press Photo Contest will judge the photos according to the Rules and Regulations of the Organizing Committee. The members of the Jury are decided by the Chairman of the "Golden Moment" Press Photo Contest Council and announced before the judging period.
7. Prizes: (there are 2 sets of prizes for single photos and photo sets)
- First Prize: 01 prize, 1 prize worth 20 million VND
- Second Prize: 02 prizes, each prize worth 15 million VND
- Third Prize: 03 prizes, each prize worth 10 million VND
- Consolation Prize: 5 prizes, each prize worth 5 million VND
- The Jury will select a number of works to display at the Award Ceremony, the authors will receive a photo fee of 500,000 VND/work.
