'One Piece' stops publishing because artist Eiichiro Oda has eye surgery

According to the website, the manga magazine Shonen Jump , which regularly publishes new issues of   One Piece will stop publishing from issue 29 to issue 32 (from June 19 to July 10) because author Eiichiro Oda is on hiatus to undergo astigmatism surgery.

Artist Eiichiro Oda said that astigmatism makes it difficult for him to concentrate on work, everything is blurred when he sees, and it can affect his creativity. He decided to have surgery after many discussions with his editor in 2022.

Shueisha has published One Piece volume 105 on March 3. Volume 106 is scheduled to be released to readers on July 6. Regarding the status of the story in the magazine, One Piece will reappear in Shonen Jump from issue 33, which is July 18. Issue 28 of Shonen Jump still has One Piece (before Eiichiro Oda retired) and will be released on June 12.

Since the day this manga artist published the first issue of One Piece on Shonen Jump - on July 19, 1997, he has been working hard, dedicating himself to readers for the past 26 years. Currently, the number of chapters of One Piece has reached more than 1,000, and the story of Monkey D. Luffy is reaching a dramatic climax.

At the age of 48, Eiichiro Oda's breaks are becoming more frequent. He took breaks in 2010, 2013, 2021, and 2022. In a letter to fans (posted on the One Piece website), Eiichiro Oda thanked readers for their support and said he would try to return soon.
