Designer Trung Dinh has just launched a collection of ao dai called "The Colours of Humanity". Accordingly, his 60 designs are made from Bao Loc silk (Lam Dong province) combined with hand-painted techniques and ombre dyeing.
Ombre dyeing is a technique of dyeing and manually changing colors to create new materials with designer Trung Dinh's own colors.
The collection is inspired by natural wonders, famous landmarks, architectural and artistic works of countries and territories around the world such as the Eiffel Tower (France), Sydney (Australia), Statue of Liberty (USA), Venice (Italy)...
For Vietnam, Trung Dinh chose to paint the Trang An scenic complex (Ninh Binh province).
"For famous countries, choosing a famous landmark to paint on the ao dai is very easy. But for countries and territories that are less known, I spend a lot of time researching and considering the famous landmarks to choose the most typical symbol," said designer Trung Dinh.
According to the designer, he and his colleagues spent months drawing and ombre dyeing to complete the 60 designs. He chose a realistic drawing style, helping to add more life and sparkle to the famous landmarks on the ao dai.
For architectural works with religious and belief elements, designer Trung Dinh painted them on silk scarves combined with ombre dyed ao dai.
The collection "The Colours of Humanity" was performed by beauty queens from various countries and territories within the framework of the Miss Cosmo 2024 contest taking place in Vietnam.
Designer Trung Dinh is one of the designers with a special love for Vietnamese ao dai and silk. For the past 10 years, he has been faithful to the fashion project spreading the love for ao dai and honoring the traditional silk weaving village of Vietnam.
