Chau Phu District Farmers' Association continues to accompany farmers in the term 2023 - 2028

Positive results

Chairman of the Chau Phu District Farmers' Association Huynh Ngoc Vy said: "In the 2018 - 2023 term, the Association at all levels in the district strived to successfully implement the Resolution of the 11th Congress of the Chau Phu District Farmers' Association. The emulation movements of the Association continued to develop in both breadth and depth, making an important contribution to the local new rural construction. Activities of shifting crop structure, applying high technology in agricultural production, and developing the collective economy achieved positive results."

After 5 years of implementing the Project on developing high-tech agriculture associated with restructuring agricultural production, the agricultural sector of Chau Phu district has achieved positive results. Up to now, the whole district has 1,947 hectares of agricultural land shifting its structure from rice cultivation to fruit tree cultivation, including: durian, jackfruit, longan, grapefruit, tangerine, orange. The profit of fruit trees ranges from 52 to 568 million VND/ha.

The District Farmers' Association coordinated with the agricultural sector to develop concentrated production areas of 587 hectares to serve the construction of new rural areas. The models maintained by farmers have high economic efficiency, suitable for local development conditions. Thereby, contributing to promoting agricultural production in the direction of applying high technology as in the spirit of Resolution 09-NQ/TU of the An Giang Provincial Party Committee. Chau Phu district's professional sector has issued 18 growing area codes, with an area of 813.7 hectares for rice and fruit trees in the area.

“In the work of supporting farmers to borrow capital to develop production, the District Farmers' Association mobilized the Farmers' Support Fund for more than 1.87 billion VND, reaching 95% of the target. From the capital allocated by the Central Vietnam Farmers' Association and the An Giang Provincial Farmers' Association, the Chau Phu District Farmers' Association appraised and provided loans to 32 projects, a total of 82 households, with an amount of 3.28 billion VND. With the efforts of the district's farmers, by the end of 2022, Chau Phu had 5,295 farmers achieving the title of good farmers in production and business, creating jobs for local workers, actively contributing to the socio-economic development task of the district" - Mr. Huynh Ngoc Vy informed.

In addition, the Chau Phu District Farmers' Association also supports farmers in promoting and consuming agricultural products through e-commerce channels. Coordinates with the Plant Cultivation - Plant Protection Station to guide farmers in registering product brands in fruit gardens, such as longan and durian. Supports farmers in registering business licenses, logos and requesting OCOP certification (One Commune One Product Program) for 12 products in the 2018 - 2023 term.

“In the 2023 - 2028 term, the Chau Phu District Farmers' Association will continue to improve its capacity, operational efficiency and farmer gathering model. Promote propaganda to raise political awareness for cadres, members and farmers in the renovation period. Strive by the end of the term, the district's associations at all levels will truly be the center and core in the farmers' movement and the new rural construction, contributing to improving the material and spiritual life of members and farmers" - Mr. Huynh Ngoc Vy determined.

Specifically, we will focus on implementing the following targets: Disseminate to over 95% of farmer members the Party's guidelines, policies, laws of the State, and programs and resolutions of the association. Strive for 100% of full-time staff to be trained and fostered in association work every year...

At the same time, collect annual membership fees to reach 100%, maintain 100% of farmers' associations with operating funds. Strive to have the District Farmers' Support Fund reach 2.3 billion VND by the end of the term and build over 5 production development projects from this fund. By the end of the term, strive to have 10% of cooperative groups qualified to become agricultural cooperatives; consolidate and improve the quality of 100% of farmers' clubs operating according to regulations and truly being a forum for members and farmers...

“To successfully achieve the targets, we propose solutions for each specific task. In particular, we will promote propaganda about the Party and State's policies and guidelines on agriculture, farmers and rural areas. Strengthen and perfect the organizational structure, build a team of cadres with sufficient qualities and capacity to meet the requirements of tasks in the new situation. Innovate the content and methods and improve the quality and efficiency of the activities of farmers' associations at all levels…” - Mr. Huynh Ngoc Vy said.

Strengthen vocational training, vocational training, and training to improve knowledge and production and business skills for farmers. Promote the role of farmers as the main subject in agricultural development, rural economy and new rural construction. Propaganda and mobilization of farmers to participate in building and consolidating the alliance of the working class - farmers - intellectuals and linking and cooperating with other classes.
