Efforts to bring high technology into agricultural production

(VLO) In recent times, the provincial agricultural sector has focused on promoting the application of high technology (CNC) in agricultural production. Thereby, it has significantly contributed to increasing production efficiency, liberating labor, and especially contributing to the development of a sustainable and modern agricultural sector in Vinh Long.

Improve production efficiency

In recent times, the application of CNC continues to be widely applied, especially through the application of production processes according to safety, GAP, and organic standards.

Accordingly, the province has built many agricultural production models integrating technical solutions, applying technology, increasing value, ensuring output and being environmentally friendly.

In the field of agriculture, besides applying drones, the application of CNC to manage water and fertilizer is gradually becoming popular.

In many places, farmers also apply CNC to monitor factors affecting crops such as salinity, pH, nutrient concentrations in soil, water, etc.

At the same time, farmers also increase the application of new technologies and techniques in agricultural production such as greenhouses, greenhouses, production according to GAP and organic processes, water-saving solutions; increase the application of information technology in supporting agricultural production such as tracing the origin of agricultural products, accessing agricultural trade information, etc.

In Tam Binh district, to support people in accessing CNC production, the district's agriculture sector also organized a workshop to introduce the effectiveness of using drones in rice production. Supporting farmers with part of the cost of purchasing equipment has helped many individuals and organizations in the district boldly apply it.

Mr. Le Van Chien - Deputy Head of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of Tam Binh district, said: In recent times, production models have been maintained and developed, the CNC application model in agricultural production in the fields of: cultivation, animal husbandry,... has brought efficiency and high income to farmers, and is continuing to be maintained and developed, improving quality and efficiency.

Mr. Nguyen Van Liem - Acting Director of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of the province, said: In the field of vegetables, there have been applications of greenhouse solutions, software applications for water-saving irrigation, growing melons and valuable vegetable products.

In the livestock sector, there are self-regulating temperature barns, applying feeding and drinking water troughs and waste collection systems. In addition, there are more than 50 safe or equivalent facilities, bringing efficiency, contributing to overall growth, increasing income and production efficiency for farmers. From there, creating a favorable foundation for the conversion to CNC agricultural production, organic agriculture faster and easier.

Strengthen propaganda, continue to replicate

The development of CNC application production is the right direction, and has been creating development momentum for the province's agricultural sector. However, according to the functional sector, although there are many favorable conditions for development, CNC application agriculture still faces many difficulties.

Specifically, projects calling for investment in the agricultural and rural sectors, especially in the aspect of CNC application, are implemented in practice very low.

Many models of applying high technology in agricultural production bring efficiency and high income to farmers.

Besides, the application of science and technology in agricultural production mainly focuses on the application of technical advances in plant and animal breeds and the transfer of advanced techniques in cultivation and animal husbandry; however, the application of automation technology, digital transformation information technology, and synchronous mechanization is still limited...

With the goal of increasing the value of agricultural, forestry and fishery products by 3.5% in 2025 compared to 2024, many experts believe that the application of CNC in the agricultural sector in Vinh Long province needs to have new and more breakthrough features.

According to Associate Professor Dr. Nguyen Ngoc Vinh - Deputy Director of the Institute for Regional Development Research and Investment, Ho Chi Minh City University of Economics, Vinh Long has a very favorable location, therefore, it should be considered to develop in the direction of high-tech agriculture. The goal is to gradually turn Vinh Long into a place to collect and process agricultural products, providing livestock and plant varieties for neighboring provinces.

According to Dr. Nguyen Hong Tin - Mekong Delta Development Research Institute, Can Tho University, Vinh Long can combine high-quality production models, net houses, and greenhouses with tourist spots for young people to check-in, along with culinary tourism, eco-tourism, and educational tourism.

Through that, we can re-educate the youth about the values, traditions and unique models of Vinh Long such as grapefruit, durian, orange, Binh Tan sweet potato. If production is combined with tourism, the value will be higher.

To promote the development of agriculture applying CNC in production, Mr. Nguyen Van Liem said: In the coming time, the agricultural sector will expand the models of applying technical advances and CNC in effective agricultural production. At the same time, promote the construction of raw material areas in the direction of ensuring safe food production to achieve certification of production according to VietGAP, GlobalGAP standards...

Strengthening the application of science and technology, developing agriculture applying CNC, encouraging the development of clean agriculture, green agriculture, organic agriculture, ecological agriculture, and circular agriculture. Propagating and guiding farmers to apply technical advances in production towards ensuring food safety, transparency and responsibility...

It can be seen that, with the continued application of CNC in production, Vinh Long province will gradually maximize the value of agricultural products, meet market demand, reduce labor, and increase profits for farmers. This is also the basis for the province to develop sustainable agriculture, aiming at the goal of ecological agriculture, modern countryside, and civilized farmers.
