Joy in the Great Unity Houses

Việt NamViệt Nam07/04/2025

- Through many sources of mobilization and the joint efforts and contributions of philanthropists, organizations and individuals, Tri Ton district has built and handed over hundreds of houses of Love, Great Solidarity, and Warm Homes of Love... The new, spacious houses replacing the rickety tree houses, temporary, and dilapidated houses have reached the dream of "settling down and making a living" of poor, near-poor, and Khmer ethnic minority households in the district...

Dream homes

In a house that still smells of new paint, Mr. Nguyen Van Trang (living in An Thanh hamlet, Luong Phi commune) and his wife are cleaning up the remaining mortar. Receiving us, Mr. Trang emotionally shared: “My family has 5 members, 2 husband and wife and 3 children. The eldest son works for hire, the second son is doing police duty, and the youngest son is still in school. Daily income is just enough for expenses, the house has been degraded for many years and has not been repaired. Now, with support of 50 million VND, the family contributed an additional 20 million VND and local people supported the house construction, so my family is very happy. From now on, the children have a solid and warm place to live.”

The situation of Mrs. Néang Dom (born in 1966, residing in Ta Dung hamlet) is no different. Mrs. Néang Dom and her husband are no longer able to work, and the family is eligible for monthly social assistance. The economy mainly depends on the hired work of the couple's children. The previous house has been degraded for many years but there is no fund for repairs. "Thanks to the hamlet people's committee introducing a sponsor to support, along with some of the money saved by the couple, the family has a new, solid home like today. Thank you to the local government and the benefactors who have supported my family to have a solid house" - Mrs. Néang Dom shared.

These are 2 of 30 cases of people in Luong Phi, Vinh Gia, An Tuc communes, and Ba Chuc town who have just been awarded Great Unity houses by the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Tri Ton district in mid-March 2025. Each house has a minimum area of 40m2, corrugated iron roof and walls, tiled floors, and an average construction cost of 60 million VND. Of which, the Joint Stock Commercial Bank for Investment and Development of Vietnam (BIDV) An Giang branch supports 50 million VND/house, the rest is contributed by the family.
