Two books have just been released to readers by the National Political Publishing House Truth.
The famous book “Letter to the South” by General Secretary Le Duan was first introduced to readers in 1985, published by Truth Publishing House. After that, it was published by the People's Army Publishing House and 10 years ago, Truth National Political Publishing House reprinted it for the second time to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification. This year, the 50th anniversary of this important historical event, the book was republished by Truth National Political Publishing House. The book collects a number of letters and telegrams from comrade Le Duan to leaders in the Southern battlefields during the resistance war against the US to save the country from 1961 to 1975. The book is a valuable document, helping readers better understand the resistance war against the US to save the country, contributing to educating and fostering patriotism for the younger generation.
“The Final Minutes at the White House: The Fall of the Republic of Vietnam” is a book translated by Ngo Bac, published by the Truth National Political Publishing House in collaboration with the Oriental Development Research Institute (under the Vietnam Union of Science and Technology Associations). The book consists of two parts. Part I introduces the original top secret documents declassified by the United States in 2015, with content revolving around the calculations, decisions and actions of the leaders of the US war machine in the final days of the collapse of the Saigon government. Typical are the full translations of the minutes of the meetings of the US National Security Council chaired by US President Gerald Ford; summaries, memoranda, reports on the situation in Vietnam; Transcript of the phone call between President Ford and the US Secretary of State and Secretary of Defense... Part II includes articles and memoirs of a number of high-ranking US generals who were directly present and commanded the evacuation during the final hours of the collapse of the Republic of Vietnam.
The Truth National Political Publishing House has just launched the book “The Great Victory of Spring 1975 - The Epic of Victory in the Ho Chi Minh Era”. The book selects 50 articles by many authors, experts, and researchers at home and abroad, which have been published in prestigious magazines: Political Theory, Military History, Party History, Past and Present. With 3 parts: “The leadership of the Party and State”, “Main developments and decisive factors on the battlefield”, “Historical value of the Great Victory of Spring 1975”, the book takes readers back to the heroic days half a century ago, to better understand the process and significance of the resistance war.
Another very good publication is “War Minutes 1-2-3-4.75” which has just been republished by the National Political Publishing House Truth. This is a historical documentary novel by journalist and writer Tran Mai Hanh, first published in 2014, awarded the Southeast Asian (ASEAN) Literature Award in 2015 and later translated into many languages around the world. In 1975, journalist and writer Tran Mai Hanh was assigned to a special working group of the Vietnam News Agency to participate in the campaign to liberate Saigon. Journalist Tran Mai Hanh followed the main troops, advancing to liberate provinces and cities from Hue to Saigon. He was also present to witness and write the first report of the Vietnamese press about the historic moments at noon on April 30, 1975 at the Independence Palace. The work consists of 19 chapters, along with an appendix of 31 original reference documents printed in full text.
