"Midwife" of the people

Duong Son, Huong Toan Commune, Huong Tra Town is a village with very few party members. Therefore, Ms. Nguyen Thi Van, former Vice President of the Commune Farmers' Association, was assigned by the Huong Toan Commune Party Committee to come to the village and take on the role of Party cell secretary.

Since taking on the new assignment, promoting the role of a party member, Ms. Nguyen Thi Van has done a good job of mobilizing people to change their occupations; making good use of loans from the Social Policy Bank to invest in developing occupations and services in the village. After a short time, more than 100 households have participated in the professions of making conical hats, carpentry, bricklaying, welding, iron doors, motorbike repair, wine making... Many households have received production support and have escaped poverty and stabilized their lives.

Mr. Tran Dong in Duong Son village shared that with technical and capital support, especially the encouragement of the village party secretary, he invested in grass carp cages on the Bo River. During the recent Lunar New Year, he harvested nearly 500 kg of fish, and after deducting all expenses, he made a profit of about 20 million VND. Thanks to that, he was able to buy some household items. In addition, in 2024, he was supported with a pair of breeding cows. Currently, the cows are preparing to give birth to their first litter.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Van said that the biggest difficulty for Duong Son is that the area is mainly Catholic and has few party members. Mobilizing people to participate in production models or mobilizing land donations to open roads... must be done skillfully, otherwise it will be counterproductive. To gain people's consensus, she herself must be a pioneer and exemplary; at the same time, she must proactively grasp each situation and each household to work with the Party cell to develop a plan to support sustainable livelihood development. As a Catholic area, it is necessary to build good relationships with local teachers and parish priests; take advantage of that influence to mobilize people to participate in implementing the Party's guidelines and the State's policies effectively.

Mrs. Binh's good way

In recent days, with the new spirit and joy when Hue city became a city directly under the Central Government, the main roads and alleys in residential group 5, Phuong Duc ward, Thuan Hoa district were cleaned and decorated with more flags and flowers... Among the people actively participating in the implementation of the work, 60 years old, is Ms. Nguyen Thi Thanh Binh, Secretary of Party Cell 5.

With the view that the older you get, the more you have to contribute, in recent times, Ms. Nguyen Thi Thanh Binh and the Party Committee of Group 5 have coordinated with mass organizations to propagate and mobilize people to sign a commitment to compete in implementing the projects "Building civilized streets", "Garbage-free streets", and "Bright - green - clean - beautiful - safe" alleys. In particular, together with veterans, the Party Committee directed the residential group to liberate the garbage dump at the beginning of Ton That Tung Street and initially planted flowers, ornamental plants, and built green spots.

Every year, Ms. Binh mobilizes the people and philanthropists in the area to support the poor, near-poor, elderly and sick people; mobilizes party members to contribute monthly to support a humanitarian address; calls for support sources to support difficult cases, long-term illness and loneliness and gives gifts on the occasion of Tet to disadvantaged households in the ward...

According to Ms. Nguyen Thi Thanh Binh, in order to balance and fully perform family and social work, the first thing to do is to arrange time scientifically to perform the work. With many social works, she always listens to suggestions to have the most appropriate ways to handle them. For example, to mobilize the younger generation to participate in movements and activities, and have the awareness to strive to be admitted to the Party, she always consults her children's opinions. With the experience of participating in the work of the Youth Union at the agency, her children always suggest good solutions for her to apply, thanks to which every task has a reasonable solution, achieving high efficiency.

“To mobilize collective strength, it must be from heart to heart. I used to be a teacher, in my class there were good students and problem students. To help problem students improve, we must assign collective tasks to them. When they feel trusted and given responsibility, they will naturally improve. In the residential group, I also seek out individuals who are not exemplary to persuade and change. When these individuals change for the better and become exemplary people, society will naturally improve. For example, there is a roast pork shop that often dumps trash in front of the street, affecting the urban beauty. I deliberately went to buy meat several times to observe. I talked to the shop owner that the meat was really delicious, but it was not tasty when I got home because I saw that the trash bin in front was polluted. After that, the Party cell supported placing a lidded trash bin nearby so that the shop owner could dispose of the trash properly. Later, this area became cleaner, and the means of transportation were arranged more neatly,” said Ms. Nguyen Thi Thanh Binh.

For their practical and effective work, Ms. Nguyen Thi Van and Ms. Nguyen Thi Thanh Binh were commended by the Standing Committee of the Provincial Party Committee (now the Standing Committee of the Hue City Party Committee) for their outstanding achievements in the emulation movement "Skillful Mass Mobilization" in 2024.
