Prevent disease and reduce the risk of recurrence
To prevent periarthritis and reduce the risk of recurrence, Dr. Thy advises patients to follow the following lifestyle and exercise guidelines:
- Keep your body warm: On cold days, make sure to keep your body warm, especially your shoulders and neck. Avoid going out in cold weather to avoid stiffening your shoulder joints.
- Exercise regularly: Do gentle exercises for the shoulder joint every day to maintain flexibility and strength of the shoulder muscles. Exercises such as shoulder rotation, arm lift, and shoulder stretching should be done regularly to improve joint health.
- Avoid movements that put stress on the shoulder joint: Avoid carrying heavy loads or performing repetitive movements that put stress on the shoulder joint for long periods of time.
- Diet: Supplement foods rich in calcium, vitamin D, omega-3 and natural anti-inflammatory substances such as green vegetables, salmon, chia seeds to support bone and joint health.
- Get enough rest: Sleep is an important factor for the body to recover and regenerate, so you need to get enough rest and limit stress to minimize negative impacts on the musculoskeletal system.
