At noon on August 27, as soon as the funeral ceremony began, a delegation of leaders and former leaders of the Party, State, Ministry of Education and Training, and Ho Chi Minh City came to pay their respects and offer condolences to the family of Professor Tran Hong Quan.

Visiting and expressing condolences to the family of Professor Tran Hong Quan were the delegations of the Central Party Secretariat and the Central Mass Mobilization Commission led by Ms. Bui Thi Minh Hoai, Secretary of the Central Party Committee and Head of the Central Mass Mobilization Commission.

In the condolence book, Party Central Committee Secretary and Head of the Central Committee for Mass Mobilization Bui Thi Minh Hoai wrote: “We deeply mourn the passing of our comrade, an excellent comrade and Party member, devoted in all positions. On behalf of the Party Central Committee Secretariat and the Central Committee for Mass Mobilization, we offer incense in memory of our comrade. We always remember and are grateful for his contributions to the revolutionary cause and to the Central Committee for Mass Mobilization.”

Next, the delegation of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee - People's Council - People's Committee - Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee led by Politburo member and Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee Nguyen Van Nen came to pay their respects. The delegation included former Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee Le Thanh Hai, former Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee Nguyen Thien Nhan, General Le Hong Anh, former Minister of Public Security, former Vice President Truong My Hoa and Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee Phan Van Mai, along with leaders of departments, branches, districts and towns of Ho Chi Minh City.

Mourning and acknowledging the achievements and contributions of the former Minister of Education and Training, Mr. Nguyen Van Nen, Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee, wrote in the condolence book: “The Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee - People's Council - People's Committee - Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee deeply mourns Professor Dr. Tran Hong Quan - a respected teacher, an honest and dedicated cadre. A loyal and exemplary Communist Party member, who devoted his entire life to the revolutionary cause of the Party, of the nation, for the happiness of the people.

A talented leader and manager, daring to think and act. A dedicated educator, always eager to innovate the country's education, who contributed to initiating and laying the foundation for fundamental innovation in university education in the early stages of the innovation career and pursued it until the end of his life.

Also coming to pay their respects and express their condolences to the family of Professor Tran Hong Quan was a delegation from the Ministry of Education and Training led by Minister Nguyen Kim Son. The delegation included former Deputy Prime Minister and former Minister of Education and Training Nguyen Thien Nhan and Deputy Ministers Nguyen Van Phuc and Hoang Minh Son.

In the condolence book, Minister Nguyen Kim Son wrote: " Deeply mourning the passing of Professor, Dr. Tran Hong Quan, a teacher, scientist, and socio-political activist with many great contributions to the country, society, and the education and training sector.

On behalf of the entire education and training sector, teachers and students, I respectfully offer incense to bid farewell to the Professor. The education and training sector will forever remember the Professor's contributions to the sector and to the cause of educating people. The collective leadership of the Ministry of Education and Training and the staff working in the sector vow to forever follow the exemplary example of the Professor, a teacher and scientist who devoted himself to the people, the country and the cause of education.

The funeral service for Professor Tran Hong Quan will be held from 11:00 a.m. on August 27 at the Southern National Funeral Home (No. 5, Pham Ngu Lao, Go Vap District, Ho Chi Minh City). The memorial service will be held at 9:00 a.m. on August 29. After that, Professor Tran Hong Quan's coffin will be buried at Thu Duc City Cemetery.

Prof. Dr. Tran Hong Quan was born in 1937 in Soc Trang province. He was a member of the Party Central Committee of the 6th, 7th, and 8th terms, a delegate to the 8th and 10th National Assembly; former Minister of Universities, Vocational Secondary Schools, and Vocational Training; former Minister of Education and Training from 1990-1997; former Deputy Head of the Central Mass Mobilization Commission; former President of the Association of Vietnamese Universities and Colleges.

During nearly 60 years of revolutionary activities, Professor Dr. Tran Hong Quan has made many contributions to the revolutionary cause of the Party and the nation.

He was awarded many noble titles by the Party and State: First-class Independence Medal, Second-class Anti-American Resistance Medal; Third-class Labor Medal, 60-year Party membership badge and many other noble medals and orders.
