Microfinance loans "support" low-income households' economy

Aiming to narrow the gap, gradually filling that gap, through the form of loans "without collateral", Microfinance Institutions (MFIs) in general, Thanh Hoa MFIs have raised hope, motivation, and "lifesavers" for poor and low-income households - those who have little opportunity to access traditional financial services. Thanh Hoa MFIs create the most favorable conditions for poor, near-poor, low-income, and disadvantaged households to access loans to escape poverty, develop the economy, and stabilize their lives.

Microfinance is identified as one of the pillars promoting the National Financial Inclusion Strategy. One of the special features of the Microfinance Organization in general, and Thanh Hoa Microfinance in particular, is the “on-site” service. The credit staff not only provides capital but also goes directly to villages and communes to collect capital and carry out transactions. This helps people avoid having to travel far, saving time and money, especially for customers in remote areas.

Unlike traditional financial institutions where customers have to physically visit branches or offices to complete loan procedures, Thanh Hoa Microfinance brings services closer to people’s lives. From signing contracts to receiving and repaying loans, all transactions are done locally, allowing people to focus on their daily work without having to worry about commuting.

In addition to the form of TCVM staff directly meeting, promoting, introducing products and services to customers, TCVM Thanh Hoa also applies technology (via tablets, smartphones) to register loan customer information through the CCS software subsystem and online savings app to transact with customers who deposit savings right at the village cultural house with the smallest deposit amount. Customers can deposit regularly without cost, travel time and be completely assured about information security.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Dung, credit officer of Ngoc Lac Transaction Office (TCVM Thanh Hoa), said: “The distance from the transaction office to the villages of the district is usually 20 to 30km, there are roads that are very difficult to travel. If people go to the transaction office by themselves, it will be very difficult. Therefore, TCVM Thanh Hoa always strives to create the most favorable conditions to "lead capital" to the people. There are also days of hot sun, or floods, when traveling is quite difficult, but seeing customers use loans effectively, improving the quality of life, TCVM officers like us feel very happy and meaningful".

As a trusted companion of customers, TCVM credit officers will be the ones to advise and support throughout the process of procedures, borrowing and capital management, helping them to make the most effective use of the loan amount. Thanks to the close attention and dedication of the staff, many households have learned how to manage their spending reasonably and develop a more effective economic model.

Thanks to practical loans, Thanh Hoa Microfinance has made a positive contribution to economic development in disadvantaged areas. Currently, Thanh Hoa Microfinance Institution operates with 4 branches and 11 transaction offices in 229 communes, 22 districts, towns and cities, with a total outstanding loan balance of VND 468 billion, and a total number of borrowers of 19,755 people.
