Pepper prices today, February 6, 2025, in the domestic market are basically stable in key localities, trading from 148,000 - 150,200 VND/kg.
Specifically, pepper price today in Gia Lai is at 149,000 VND/kg.
Pepper prices today in the provinces of Dong Nai (148,500 VND/kg); Dak Lak (150,000 VND/kg); Dak Nong (150,200 VND/kg); Ba Ria - Vung Tau (149,000 VND/kg) and Binh Phuoc (149,000 VND/kg).
Thus, pepper prices today remained stable in most key growing areas, with only a slight increase of VND200/kg recorded in Dak Nong. The highest pepper price was VND150,200/kg.
Domestic pepper prices increased right after Tet, helping local farmers enter the new harvest season with excitement.
Right after Tet, local farmers started harvesting early-ripening pepper crops in some regions such as Dak Lak, Dak Nong, Gia Lai... This year's harvest is estimated to be slower than previous years due to unfavorable weather last year.
Director of Binh Minh Cooperative (Ea Po Commune, Cu Jut District, Dak Nong) Le Anh Son said that in previous years, farmers growing coffee and pepper in the Central Highlands had the habit of selling all their pepper and coffee after harvesting. This caused the amount of goods in the harvest period to be too much, exceeding export demand, leading to the situation where coffee and pepper prices often dropped during this period.
In addition, some farmers with better economic conditions, who do not have the need to sell coffee and pepper after harvesting, have the habit of consigning pepper and coffee to agents in the area. Because the warehouse size of the agents does not meet the standards, the agents continue to send to larger partners...
When coffee and pepper prices increase, farmers rush to agents to sell their agricultural products, consignment units will lose their ability to pay and the Domino effect will occur.
However, in recent years, especially in 2024, high agricultural prices have helped farmers take the initiative in selling their products.
Mr. Marcellus Giovanni, CEO of Brazspice Spices International, said that in the 5th week of 2025, black pepper prices in Vietnam increased steadily by about 1.32% during the week.
This increase was mainly due to strong demand from important export markets such as the European Union (EU) and the US.
Despite the post-Tet holiday, market activity remains relatively stable as exporters and manufacturers have resumed operations.
In 2025, Brazil’s output is expected to recover, while Indonesia’s output could decline due to investment constraints and unfavorable weather conditions. India, a major consumer, is also expected to see a decline in output due to the impact of floods, which have led farmers to limit investment and liquidate inventories as domestic prices fall.
At the end of the most recent trading session, the International Pepper Community (IPC) listed the price of Lampung black pepper (Indonesia) at 7,219 USD/ton; the price of Brazilian black pepper ASTA 570 at 6,300 USD/ton, up 150 USD/ton (2.38%); the price of Kuching black pepper (Malaysia) ASTA at 9,000 USD/ton.
Muntok white pepper price is 9,694 USD/ton; Malaysian ASTA white pepper price is at 11,600 USD/ton.
Vietnam's black pepper price is trading at 6,350 USD/ton for 500 g/l; 550 g/l at 6,650 USD/ton; white pepper price at 9,550 USD/ton. IPC increases Brazilian black pepper price. Since the beginning of the week, this agency has continuously increased pepper prices in other countries, after Indonesia, it is Brazil.
