
On March 31, Nghe An Farmers' Association held a conference to summarize the project "Propaganda and mobilization of farmers to treat waste in Vietnam, contributing to the international community's efforts to reduce greenhouse gas emissions".
Attending the conference were leaders of the Provincial Farmers' Association; members of the Provincial Project Management Board; leaders of the Farmers' Associations of districts, towns and typical farming households in project implementation in localities.
At the Workshop, representatives of the Provincial Farmers' Association Project Management Board evaluated the project's performance in the 2022-2024 period.
Specifically, the project "Propaganda and mobilization of farmers to treat waste in Vietnam, contributing to the international community's efforts to reduce greenhouse gas emissions" was implemented in 15 communes in 03 districts and towns including: Hoa Son, Tan Son, Xuan Son, Thinh Son, Lac Son, Dang Son communes (Do Luong district), Kim Lien commune, Thuong Tan Loc town, Xuan Lam, Nam Thanh (Nam Dan district), Nghia Tien, Tay Hieu, Dong Hieu, Nghia My communes (Thai Hoa town).

The project aims to turn organic waste into valuable resources; increase farmers' income from organic waste resources; protect the environment; reduce greenhouse gas emissions in agricultural production and from food waste; improve soil health and enhance animal health; and improve community health.
The project focuses on 5 technical solutions including: Fermentation technique of crop by-products for animal feed, chicken raising technique on thick biological bedding, organic composting technique in the field, earthworm raising technique, calcium worm raising technique.

After 3 years of implementation, the project has organized 42 training courses to guide organic waste treatment techniques in an environmentally friendly manner for 1,320 farmer members in 15 communes participating in the project; 670 waste treatment models have been built in the communes participating in the project (including: 110 models of fermenting crop by-products for animal feed; 150 models of raising chickens on thick biological bedding; 110 models of composting in the fields; 150 models of raising calcium worms and 110 models of raising earthworms).
In addition, the Provincial Farmers' Association has directed the Farmers' Associations of 3 districts and towns participating in the project to implement the project in 100% of communes and towns in the area to spread and replicate the pilot models.

Up to now, the units participating in the project have replicated more than 10,000 TOT1 technical models (including fermentation techniques of crop by-products for animal feed, composting techniques from crop by-products, chicken raising techniques on thick biological bedding) and TOT2 (including vermiculture techniques, calcium worm farming techniques).
In addition, the Project Management Board has directed and guided the establishment of 11 "Preserving a Green Future" groups in the communes participating in the project.
Speaking at the conference, Mr. Nguyen Quang Tung - Chairman of the Provincial Farmers' Association, Head of the project management board emphasized: "The application of environmentally friendly waste treatment techniques has helped households reduce input costs in the agricultural production process.

Gradually forming sustainable circular agricultural models. At the same time, through project activities, gradually raising awareness of people and farmers about environmental protection, responding to climate change, maintaining and replicating environmental protection models, participating in building new rural areas.
Attending the workshop, delegates shared, exchanged and discussed experiences, advantages, difficulties and proposed solutions to expand the project in the future.

At the conference, the Project Management Board organized an evaluation and reward for groups with good achievements in participating in project activities in the 2022-2024 period.
