The Ukrainian Air Force said that Russia launched 35 cruise missiles in a night attack on Ukraine today, June 6, but all were shot down by Ukrainian air defense forces, according to The Kyiv Independent .

Kyiv's military administration reported that Ukrainian air defenses intercepted nearly 20 Russian air targets before they reached the capital, according to The Kyiv Independent . There were no reports of casualties.

In recent weeks, the frequency of Russian airstrikes targeting Ukraine has escalated to near-nightly attacks. The seemingly frequent attacks may be part of a new Russian air campaign aimed at distracting Ukraine’s counterattack capabilities by forcing the Ukrainian military to maintain at least a partially defensive posture, according to The Kyiv Independent .

There is currently no information about Russia's reaction to the above statement of the Ukrainian Air Force.

Russia accuses Ukrainian intelligence of considering using dirty bomb

The Russian Federal Security Service (FSB) said on June 6 that Ukraine's Main Intelligence Directorate (GUR) had considered detonating a "dirty bomb" on Russian territory, according to RT. The FSB also said that preparations for a "terrorist attack" using a dirty bomb were revealed during an investigation into Kyiv's use of light aircraft for secret missions against Russia.

The GUR has a special branch that operates light aircraft, which can fly at low altitudes without being detected, according to the FSB.

The FSB has released footage of the interrogation of Dmitry Shimansky, a suspected Ukrainian pilot who was intercepted while carrying out such a mission. Shimansky was detained in May in the Tula region, about 200 kilometers south of Moscow, when his plane landed to transport drone parts and explosives for a planned attack on a Russian military airfield, according to the FSB.

According to the FSB, pilot Shimansky said that the GUR leadership had considered using similar tactics to prepare for a dirty bomb attack in Russia. A dirty bomb is a conventional explosive device covered with radioactive material, contaminating a large area around it after it explodes.

The Russian government has accused Ukraine of conducting a series of sabotage operations on Russian territory, including two recent drone attacks in Moscow. Those attacks led to a Russian retaliatory strike on the GUR headquarters in Kyiv, according to RT.

There is no information yet on Kyiv's reaction to the FSB's accusations. Ukraine has previously denied attacking Moscow with UAVs.
