Colonel Nguyen Anh Son, Commander of the Provincial Border Guard Command, said: Ninh Thuan Border Guard is assigned to manage a large BGB area with 15 communes, wards and towns in 5 districts and cities. The sea area has 2,275 fishing boats operating with about 18,000 sea workers; the area also has 4 fishing ports and 1 international port. In order to effectively manage and maintain the area, the Provincial Border Guard has organized and implemented synchronous and comprehensive border protection measures, carried out the work of managing and protecting the national border, maintaining security, order and social safety in the BGB area, avoiding being passive and surprised; at the same time, closely coordinated with forces stationed in the area to effectively combat and prevent all types of crimes, especially drug crimes, trade fraud, transportation, trading and illegal use of explosives. Thanks to that, the political security situation, order and social safety in the border area of the province are stable, people feel secure in working and producing, developing the economy, contributing with the Border Guard to build an increasingly solid people's border defense posture.

Notably, in the first 6 months of this year, the border guards conducted 739 patrols and inspections onshore and at sea with the participation of 4,008 officers and soldiers; registered and inspected 1,139 fishing vessels/9,691 sea workers; controlled 3,826 passenger ships/46,750 sea tourists; inspected and completed import and export procedures for 119 domestic transport vessels/986 crew members/54 passengers entering and leaving Ninh Chu port and Ca Na international port; monitored 18 foreign vessels passing through inland waters; patrolled, controlled, and combined propaganda and mobilization of 42,807 fishermen to strictly comply with IUU regulations, focusing on 175 fishing vessels in the group of offshore fishing vessels at high risk of violating foreign waters.
Lieutenant Colonel Ha Tien Sang, Head of the Border Guard Station at Ca Na Port, shared: In order to both manage the BGB area well and inspect and control the Ca Na international seaport, the unit has proactively developed professional plans, effectively combating all types of crimes, especially drug crimes, smuggling, trade fraud, etc. That initiative has contributed significantly to ensuring social order and safety in the area. The incidents that occurred have been handled promptly and effectively by the station in coordination with local Party committees, authorities and functional forces. In 2023 and the first 6 months of 2024 alone, the unit has participated in handling 22 cases/58 subjects, of which 10 cases were related to drugs.

To unite the people in coastal areas, especially fishermen, to participate in the task of protecting the safety of the province's BGB area and maintaining national border security, officers and soldiers of units, posts and stations under the provincial Border Guard have actively stayed close to the grassroots, mobilizing people to well implement the Party's guidelines and policies, and the State's policies and laws. Up to now, the provincial Border Guard has coordinated with the authorities of coastal localities to build 46 teams/258 safe vessels and boats; 74 teams/361 members of self-governing teams to protect national border security and 170 solidarity teams/1,018 ships operating at sea. Along with effectively implementing all aspects of border defense work, the provincial Border Guard has also actively participated in building the political system at the grassroots level; helping the Raglai people to eliminate hunger, reduce poverty and improve the material and spiritual life of people in the BGB area. Currently, the Provincial Border Guard is sponsoring 21 children in the program "Helping children go to school - Adopted children of border guards", 29 children under the project "Army officers and soldiers help children go to school"... Through these models, it has contributed to raising awareness and responsibility of the people in implementing the movement "All people participate in protecting territorial sovereignty and national border security in the new situation".
According to Colonel Nguyen Anh Son, in order to successfully implement the political tasks of 2024, the Provincial Border Guard determined that in the last months of the year, it will continue to focus on directing and effectively implementing all aspects of border work; determinedly and drastically overcome weaknesses, manage and protect the border in accordance with the provisions of law. Focus on firmly grasping and accurately forecasting the situation of the area and the BGB area, promptly detecting and effectively fighting against all types of crimes. Closely coordinate with propaganda forces, mobilize people to comply with the Party's guidelines and policies and the State's laws. Accompany local Party committees and authorities to take care of people's lives; strengthen activities to strengthen military-civilian solidarity on the sea route, and build a truly solid BGB area of the province.
