On the afternoon of February 6, the Department of Tourism of Kien Giang province held a conference to summarize tourism activities in 2024 and deploy directions and tasks for 2025.

According to Director of Kien Giang Provincial Department of Tourism Bui Quoc Thai, in 2024, Kien Giang province welcomed more than 9.8 million visitors (up 15.6% over the same period, exceeding the annual plan by 7.2%); of which, international visitors were more than 978,800, total tourism revenue reached about VND 25,141 billion (up 43.8% over the same period, exceeding the annual plan by 25.7%).

To date, Kien Giang province has attracted 317 investment projects in the tourism sector, with a scale of nearly 10,000 hectares and an investment capital of more than VND408,100 billion; of which, Phu Quoc city has 274 tourism investment projects, with a scale of nearly 9,500 hectares; an investment capital of more than VND388,400 billion.

The province has 977 accommodation establishments with 34,132 rooms. Of which, 1-3 star tourist accommodation establishments have 18 establishments with 1,520 rooms; 4-5 star tourist accommodation establishments have 28 establishments with 12,788 rooms.

In 2024, Kien Giang Provincial Department of Tourism will organize many activities to connect, cooperate and promote domestic and international tourism; participate in many survey delegations in Japan, Thailand, and Cambodia to introduce and connect and promote tourist destinations between Vietnam and localities.

At the conference, delegates proposed important solutions such as training human resources, developing unique tourism products and enhancing coordination between the government and businesses, contributing to promoting the sustainable development of the tourism industry in Kien Giang province and Vietnam in the future.
