My Tam once fell into depression and had many sleepless nights.
My Tam takes the audience to an emotional “party” in the 106-minute “Time Keeper ” with many events that have never been revealed in the past 2 years. Through the journey of organizing 2 big shows with difficulties, My Tam successfully balanced the story and music aspects.
My Tam wore a white ao dai and cycled to the premiere of the movie "The Time Keeper".
Through The Time Keeper, the audience clearly sees the image of My Tam as serious, meticulous, enthusiastic but also full of worries. In the practice scenes, she shows perfectionism and carefulness in every detail. When the crew has conflicts, My Tam is the one who reconciles the different personalities, but sometimes she herself is in a deadlock.
In the trailer, viewers were moved to hear My Tam instruct the security guards to behave with the audience, while in the film, viewers were moved by the image of her kneeling before the crew before performing. The way music is integrated becomes an escape from difficulties and obstacles, pushing the spirit of the film to be unified, focused and harmonious. In April 2021, when the Tri Am live show stage in Hanoi was 70% complete and ready to perform, the number of COVID-19 infections in the capital increased sharply. In that situation, My Tam decided to stop the show and return the tickets to the audience because she knew she could not ensure everyone's safety. "The audience was still happy to receive their tickets back, but I felt guilty, feeling once again indebted to the fans' kindness," the singer confided. This challenge pushed My Tam into depression, many sleepless nights, and she had to rely on medication.
From then on, she had to learn how to balance and regain positive energy from simple, everyday things like embroidery, gardening, cooking, playing games, playing billiards... At this time, My Tam herself inspired herself and her team to overcome difficult times. Her determination at work and her gentleness and simplicity in everyday life paint a very natural portrait of My Tam.
In the film, My Tam rarely shares her love story. When she first fell in love, she thought of a peaceful future of "growing vegetables and raising fish" in a faraway place, believing that "love does not necessarily mean getting married, but just two people living together". However, My Tam admitted that she was very crazy and demanding, causing the love affair to fail. From that shock, she realized her shortcomings, changed strongly and became more sober.
Still know greed, anger, ignorance
My Tam's love for music and her audience is strongly portrayed in the film. In the first minutes, My Tam humorously shares that she never changes but also often... changes. She always gives her all, sings with genuine emotions but will also innovate to make a better impression.
Through the cuts of the live shows from Yesterday & Now to Multi-frequency Waves, Heartbeats , My Tam has grown up, matured, and is moving towards new and perfect things. The first live show is when she wants to show what she has, but Tri am is simply a sharing, a beautiful memory, and also a "love letter" to the audience and fans.
After the difficulties, My Tam picked herself up. The stage is a sanctuary, the female singer calls thousands and tens of thousands of audiences “family”, from which she strongly affirms her aura, confidence, professional attitude and dedication.
In the film, the duration of My Tam's 20-year growth process is quite modest. Many frames recall old memories, but most of them are fleeting, leaving many viewers unable to absorb them.
The film is divided into 2 parts, including live shows in Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi, with many repeated performances. If skillfully integrated, the film will be neat, impressive and not too long-winded. In addition, The Time Keeper only has one voice, My Tam. If there were time for other subjects, the story of "keeping time" would be more diverse and colorful.
Overall, The Timekeeper has many beautiful and inspiring moments. My Tam said she still knows greed, anger, ignorance, love and hate, still has ambition, and sometimes despair. The film shows the most authentic person of the female singer in the present so that the audience can cry, laugh and share. Through the film, each memory comes alive in famous and familiar melodies to the audience.
