In the match against Sanfrecce Hiroshima (Japan) on the evening of February 12, Nam Dinh Club showed their determination by using 8 foreign players in the main squad. With Lucas Silva on the bench in the second half, the Vietnamese representative used all 9 foreign players (including 8 Brazilian players).

Nam Dinh FC's lineup, which rarely plays together, still has many problems. However, the fact that 8 foreign players are always on the field at the same time helps the home team maintain a good position against a strong opponent from Japan. Sanfrecce Hiroshima did not create any dangerous opportunities in the first half of the match.

In the second half, Nam Dinh FC continued to play safe and successfully neutralized most of the opponent's attacks. However, the home team could not maintain their concentration and confidence in the last 20 minutes of the match.

The individual brilliance of Sanfrecce Hiroshima's attack made the difference. Sota Nakamura opened the scoring with a powerful shot from a tight angle. Not long after, Satoshi Tanaka skillfully handled the penalty area and unleashed a decisive shot that scored against Nam Dinh FC.

Conceding two goals, the Vietnamese team tried to attack but to no avail. On the contrary, mistakes by the defenders caused Nam Dinh FC to concede another goal. Center back Lucas de Araujo made a bad pass, creating an opportunity for Sanfrecce Hiroshima to score the winning goal, 3-0.

The heavy defeat has diminished Nam Dinh FC's hopes of advancing. The reigning V.League champions must win at least 4-0 in the second leg away from home to create a surprise and advance to the quarter-finals of the AFC Champions League 2.
