It was not until three years after his death that his family and friends were able to fulfill the late musician's last wish, which was to release an album before his death. The album "Thu Trang 4" includes eight compositions composed by musician Tran Quang Loc from the poems of poet Thu Tuyet.
Thu Tuyet's poems have been turned into songs by musicians Phu Quang, Quoc Bao, Nguyen Ngoc Thien, Tung Chau, Quoc Dung... but she has never known musician Tran Quang Loc because he lives in Ba Ria while she lives in Australia, occasionally visiting her hometown in Phu Yen and stopping by Ho Chi Minh City.
Poet Thu Tuyet said that 8 years ago, musician Tran Quang Loc texted her via Facebook: "Thu Tuyet's poems have many strange and profound things. If possible, please choose some of your favorite poems. I will put them to music, maybe make a separate album. Best regards. Wishing you peace."
When she learned that this was a famous musician with love songs such as "Come here and listen to me", "Phieu bong ca", "Chot nghe em hat", "Co phai em mua thu Ha Noi", "Ngo ngon nhe ngay xua"..., she was very happy. Musician Tran Quang Loc and poet Thu Tuyet decided to make a joint album.
In 2020, poet Thu Tuyet planned to return to Vietnam to complete the album, but the COVID-19 pandemic broke out and the musician became seriously ill, so the plan became unfinished.
Thu Tuyet shared: "I owe him a debt of gratitude that can never be repaid. That was when he received my poetry collection, he only had one eye left, the other eye was ravaged by cancer. In the agony of his last days, he tried to read, read to choose four poems to compose into four final songs. Then he asked someone to sing demos and arrange the music for these songs to send to me before he was no longer conscious."
In his last days, he still composed despite his illness.
The last words that musician Tran Quang Loc sent to Thu Tuyet were: "Hello Thu Tuyet, I have completed an album of your poems consisting of eight songs. This is my last album for you with all my feelings. I hope you consider it as a beautiful memory from me for you."
A day later, the musician's son - Tran Quang Phuong Nam, texted her: "My dad is no longer lucid, ma'am"... From a faraway place, Thu Tuyet choked up and cried, she cried because of the heart that musician Tran Quang Loc had for her. Although the two planned to make an album of 10 songs, Tran Quang Loc struggled until his last breath to complete eight songs. Perhaps this was also fate. This was what made Thu Tuyet determined to complete the album and release it in 2023.
Poet Thu Tuyet has fulfilled the last wish of musician Tran Quang Loc.
Poet Thu Tuyet will also perform music nights featuring Tran Quang Loc's poems in Australia, Ho Chi Minh City, Phu Yen, the US and France to fully fulfill musician Tran Quang Loc's wish.
In addition to being a poet, Thu Tuyet is also a teacher. She is a former lecturer at the University of Finance and Marketing, Ho Chi Minh City (majoring in Business Administration), teaching foreign languages at the Foreign Language Center - Ho Chi Minh City University of Education and several other colleges... She is currently residing in Melbourne (Australia). Thu Tuyet has collaborated with Phuong Nam Cultural Company to release music CDs, poetry collections, essays, memoirs... from 2016 to present.
