The 2023 National Press Award on Agriculture, Farmers, and Rural Areas of Vietnam (for print and online newspapers) is chaired by the Central Committee of the Vietnam Farmers' Union, directed by the Central Propaganda Department and the Vietnam Journalists' Association; organized by Nong Thon Ngay Nay/Dan Viet electronic newspaper in coordination with the Vietnam Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (Agribank).
The award ceremony was attended by leaders of central departments, ministries, branches, the Fatherland Front and socio-political organizations; members of the Central Committee of the Association, leaders of central departments and units; representatives of officials, farmers' association members of provinces and cities, enterprises, experts, scientists and groups of award-winning authors.

The 2023 National Press Awards Ceremony on Agriculture, Farmers, and Rural Areas of Vietnam is an event held to honor outstanding press works on the topic of "Agriculture, Farmers, and Rural Areas of Vietnam". The program is an activity to welcome the 8th National Congress of the Vietnam Farmers' Union for the 2023-2028 term; it also contributes to the dissemination and implementation of the Party's Resolutions on agricultural, farmer, and rural development in the spirit of the 13th Party Resolution.
This year's program was honored to receive 2,756 works from 150 press agencies with many different authors participating such as journalists, experts, professional and non-professional writers, etc. These numbers are proof of the great contributions and deep concern of the press community for agriculture, farmers, and rural areas of our country.
Comrade Bui Thi Minh Hoai - Secretary of the Party Central Committee, Head of the Central Mass Mobilization Commission; Comrade Luong Quoc Doan - Member of the Party Central Committee, Chairman of the Central Executive Committee of the Vietnam Farmers' Union awarded the First Prize to the series of articles: "Glitches" in digital transformation of agriculture from Nong Thon Ngay Nay Newspaper/Dan Viet electronic newspaper.
The 2023 award-winning works are not only excellent in terms of journalism but also demonstrate a spirit of innovation, creativity, daring to think, daring to do, and constantly overcoming challenges to keep up with new trends of the digital age.
The works awarded this year are only a small part representing thousands of works that have accompanied agriculture, farmers and rural areas of Vietnam. The honoring and awarding activities are activities that demonstrate the attention of the Party, the State and all levels to recognize and encourage typical factors, outstanding achievements, and encourage the community to continue to bring readers timely information, silent stories, contributing to the development of agriculture, farmers and rural areas of the country.
Mr. Luong Quoc Doan - Member of the Party Central Committee, Chairman of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Farmers' Union delivered the opening speech at the ceremony.
Speaking at the award ceremony, Comrade Luong Quoc Doan - Member of the Party Central Committee, Chairman of the Central Executive Committee of the Vietnam Farmers' Union said: In the past time, the Vietnam Farmers' Union has coordinated with relevant departments and branches to actively propagate, disseminate, and mobilize members and farmers to well implement the Party's guidelines and policies, the State's policies and laws, focusing on policies and laws on agriculture, farmers, and rural areas.
The Association has constantly innovated its content and methods of operation, focusing on the grassroots, accompanying farmers, organizing and guiding the implementation of practical and effective movements and activities, meeting the requirements of gathering, mobilizing and supporting farmers in the new situation, contributing to building a strong Association.
Comrade Ha Thi Nga - Member of the Party Central Committee, President of the Vietnam Women's Union; Comrade Nguyen Dinh Khang - Member of the Party Central Committee, President of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor awarded the Second Prize to the authors.
Comrade Luong Quoc Doan affirmed: The 2023 National Press Award for Writing about Agriculture, Farmers, and Rural Areas in Vietnam is one of the practical and effective information and propaganda activities, creating a strong spread in communication work on agriculture, farmers, and rural areas.
"The organization of the National Press Award for writing about agriculture, farmers and rural areas in Vietnam has a particularly important meaning, not only creating an environment for professional and non-professional writers who are journalists and readers nationwide, but also making an important contribution to the propaganda and dissemination of the Party and State's policies and guidelines on agriculture, farmers and rural areas; promptly reflecting and replicating typical and outstanding models and examples in farmers, agricultural development and new rural construction; and remaining problems and difficulties in the fields of agriculture, farmers and rural areas, helping authorities have more information to advise and propose to competent authorities to issue increasingly more complete mechanisms, policies and solutions" - Comrade Luong Quoc Doan emphasized.
Mr. Tran Thanh Lam - Deputy Head of the Central Propaganda Department and Mr. Pham Toan Vuong - General Director of the Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development of Vietnam awarded the Third Prize to the winning authors.
Through articles, works, and series of topics, they have contributed to changing the thinking of farmers in the new period, shifting from agricultural production thinking to agricultural economic thinking, integrating multi-values. Each article, each work that won the award this time seems to paint a colorful, vibrant picture of agriculture, farmers, and rural areas in Vietnam.
At the ceremony, the Organizing Committee awarded 1 First Prize, 2 Second Prizes, 3 Third Prizes, 10 Consolation Prizes, and 10 Special Prizes. Among them, the series of articles: "Glitches" in digital transformation of agriculture from Nong Thon Ngay Nay Newspaper/Dan Viet Electronic Newspaper by authors Tran Quang and Nguyen Thi Quynh was honored to win First Prize.
Also at the ceremony, the Organizing Committee awarded Certificates of Merit to the organizing units, including: Journalist Luu Quang Dinh - Head of Organizing Committee, Editor-in-Chief of Nong Thon Ngay Nay Newspaper, Mr. Pham Toan Vuong - General Director of Agribank - Co-organizing unit.
Mr. Nguyen Hoang Hiep - Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development and Mr. Pham Tien Nam - Permanent Vice President of the Central Executive Committee of the Vietnam Farmers' Union presented awards to the authors who won the Encouragement Prize.
Launching the National Press Award on "Agriculture, Farmers, Rural Areas in 2024", journalist Luu Quang Dinh - Editor-in-Chief of Nong Thon Ngay Nay Newspaper/Dan Viet Electronic Newspaper said that based on the success and influence of the first Award, our Organizing Committee would like to launch the National Press Award on Agriculture, Farmers, and Rural Areas of Vietnam in 2024 with many innovations in terms of rules, upgrading in scale and value of the award.
Accordingly, the award is organized on a national scale, rich in content, diverse in genres, expanding in scope, participants, and attractive award structure. In particular, to increase the influence of the press award for agriculture, in addition to printed and electronic newspaper works, it is expected that in 2024 there will be additional categories for radio, television and press photo products.
Journalist Luu Quang Dinh - Head of the Organizing Committee of the 2023 Journalism Award on Agriculture, Rural Areas, and Farmers launched the 2024 competition.
The Organizing Committee will receive entries and works through 2 sources. Accordingly, readers send articles to be published on Nong Thon Ngay Nay/Dan Viet electronic newspaper and send written press works that have been printed and published in various types of newspapers/magazines in print, electronic, radio and television.
Entries must be submitted for the first time, not published in other newspapers or magazines, reflecting objective truth, and will not accept literary or fictional articles. The Organizing Committee will start accepting entries from the beginning of 2024 and will end in mid-November 2024.
The award ceremony is expected to be held in December 2024.
