Humble beginnings . In the early 1980s, Mark Zuckerberg’s parents bought a 1,200-square-foot house in Dobbs Ferry, a small village in Westchester County, New York, about 30 minutes from Manhattan. Edward Zuckerberg, Mark’s father, opened a dental practice in the home. Living and running a business at home inspired Mark to pursue his passion for technology. As a teenager, Mark developed “Zucknet,” a system that helped his father communicate between clinics. Real estate records show that the house was sold in 2019.
