Emphasizing the importance of breakthroughs in science, technology, innovation and digital transformation in mineral geology research activities, Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Environment Tran Quy Kien requested the Vietnam Geology and Minerals Department to proactively develop tasks and clear implementation plans; ensure specific output products and assign responsible organizations and units to avoid the situation where projects and research proposals are completed and then "shelved", causing waste.
This is the basis for evaluating implementation efficiency and prioritizing investment resources.
The above information was given by Mr. Kien at a meeting to listen to the Vietnam Geology and Minerals Department report on the Plan to implement Decision No. 503/QD-BNNMT on promulgating the Plan of the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment to implement Resolution No. 57-NQ/TW on breakthroughs in science and technology development, innovation and national digital transformation, which took place on April 23.
With the orientation of taking technology as a driving force for development, Deputy Minister Tran Quy Kien suggested that the Department of Geology and Minerals of Vietnam prioritize the development and deployment of artificial intelligence (AI) applications to invest in strategic platforms.
Typically, AI, Big Data, Internet of Things (IoT), Blockchain support monitoring, supervision, warning of geological disasters, and improve the efficiency of exploitation and use of mineral resources.
Mr. Kien also noted that the Vietnam Department of Geology and Minerals needs to proactively cooperate with leading international universities, research institutes and technology corporations, participate in academic forums, and transfer science and technology.
On that basis, the Department of Geology and Minerals of Vietnam builds a force of high-quality experts, ready to lead strategic tasks; support businesses in commercializing scientific research results.
Providing more information about the implementation plan, Deputy Director of the Vietnam Geology and Minerals Department Le Quoc Hung said that the department has drafted an action plan to implement Resolution No. 57-NQ/TW of the Politburo, demonstrating the determination to bring the mineral geology industry into the digital age.
According to Mr. Hung, the draft plan is designed to identify specific tasks, clearly assign responsibilities, requirements on progress and results to be achieved; inspect, monitor, promptly detect difficulties and obstacles to have solutions to overcome, ensure full and effective implementation of tasks in Resolution No. 57-NQ/TW, related resolutions and Decision No. 503/QD-BNNMT of the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment on breakthroughs in science and technology development, innovation and national digital transformation in the industry.
In that spirit, Mr. Hung said that in the coming time, in addition to regular tasks, the agencies and units under the department, according to their functions and tasks, will specify and organize the implementation of key tasks.
In particular, the department will promote digital transformation, application of science, technology, innovation in the operations of agencies and units; improve the efficiency of sectoral and sectoral governance, the effectiveness of state management in all fields, ensure national defense and security; strengthen international cooperation in the development of science and technology in the fields of geology and minerals./.
